Ralph W. Bailey Scholarship Foundation

Mr. Ralph Bailey was the son of tenant farmers in Bath County until his father suffered a stroke. He was a first-generation high school graduate. He went on to graduate college. Then got his Master’s Degree, and then pursued his Doctorate Degree. He spent many years trying to perfect his dissertation, but his perfectionism would not allow him to submit a dissertation which was with any flaw. While working on his dissertation he started teaching High School, where he found his calling. He taught elementary and high school students until a lung illness forced his retirement and soon after caused his death.
