Everyone is home safe from the 2026 KHSAA State championship. I wanted to give an update on how our teams weekend went.
Brady Wells and Zeke Brock’s day one started off horribly, losing a lower unit on the boat right out of blast off. Luckily they had another boat available, and after getting the first boat back on the trailer, the back up boat checked by officials and re-launched they still managed a respectable 9 pound 4 ounce bag. Day 2 they were able to get right to fishing and showed out with a total weight of 13 pounds 9 ounces. Bringing their 2 day total to 22 pounds 13 ounces and landing them in 4th place overall and a ticket to nationals!🏆🏆🏆🏆
Jase Cox and Bentley Oldfield also had a tough day 1 with several keeper fish lost or broken off. They brought 2 fish to weigh in for 4 pounds and 14 ounces leaving them a long way down the leader board. Day 2 they didn’t give up, they went to work and brought in a great bag weighing 13 pounds 4 ounces bringing their 2 day total to 18 pounds 2 ounces and clawing their way back up to a 13th place finish!
Emmalyn Vice and Bailey Swartz had a tough day one. They caught a ton of fish but just couldn’t find the size to be able to bring any keepers to weigh in. Day two was more of the same. Lots of fish caught but only being able to bring 1 keeper to the scales for a total of 2 pounds 6 ounces and an 18th place finish in the all girls division.
Kentucky Lake was in a transition from spawn to post spawn and the fishing was as tough as gets for this time of year. These kids fished their butts off and really done our county and school proud. What an unbelievable showing for a group of freshmen. Fishing a lake most of them have never been on and competing against upper class men and local anglers, and to have these kind of results is impressive . It really shows what kind of talent this county has to offer. These kids, and all of our teams constantly make us so incredibly proud!
As always we want to thank our sponsors throughout the community that continue to stand behind these kids and help give them the opportunity to pursue their dreams. It absolutely cannot be done without your support.
Again, congratulations to our teams. We are so proud of you and cannot wait to see what the future holds for all of you!
