October 2026 Chamber Corner

The Owingsville/Bath County Chamber of Commerce held its October meeting on Wednesday at Sherrie’s Pizza House.
There were 12 members present, and we welcomed Marinda Fannin and Maresa Foster with Amazing Opportunities Kentucky, an agency headquartered in Morehead which aids disabled individuals. Their agency will be opening an adult training center at the old Green’s Restaurant location in Salt Lick, which is scheduled to open later this year. They became our latest Chamber member.
The meeting also welcomed Bath County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Michael Melton.
The Chamber’s bank balance is $3679.37.
Following discussion, Chamber members overwhelmingly voted to retain the services of Chelsea Mitchell, owner of Mitchell Media Co., to provide web design, marketing, branding, and social media services for the Chamber, as well as assistance with building a county business directory, revamping Chamber by-laws, and assisting with incorporation and non-profit 501(3)(c) status.
Members discussed the success of the recent Chamber After Hours event hosted by The Edge Glamping Getaway in Midland. They also agreed to ask Sterling Healthcare to host the next Chamber After Hours event, and later Seoulful Skin.
The Annual Chamber election will be held during the December meeting.
The meeting closed with sharing community events, marking a very busy fall season ahead.

Owingsville/Bath County Chamber of Commerce members held their Chamber After Hours meeting tonight at Stay on The Edge glamping getaway on the Licking River in Midland. Hosts Pam McGlone, Sara Pease, and Kevin Porter were gracious and welcoming as they shared their unique and fun business. A delicious dinner was prepared by Fork and Flame, including a full s'mores station. The Chamber thanks you for making this a very special event tonight.

Chamber Update
September 16, 2026

The Owingsville/Bath County Chamber of Commerce held its regular monthly meeting today at Sherrie’s Pizza House, with 11 members present.
Treasurer’s report included a balance of $3583.85. Members discussed the renewal bill for the Chamber’s website through GoDaddy, which was over $600. Chamber President Cecil Lawson agreed to contact GoDaddy’s customer service.
In old business, we continued our discussion on writing up new bylaws and filing for incorporation; chamber promotion and branding, including a new logo; and creating a county business directory.
In new business, we agreed to have our next Chamber After Hours event at The Edge on October 6, a glamping getaway in Midland which just opened this year. We also agreed to have our next After Hours event at Sterling Health Care in Owingsville.

- Amish School Benefit at the Owingsville Lions Club Park, Friday, September 25,
- Salt Lick Hometown Festival and Peoples Bank Cruise In for a Cause Car Truck and Bike Show, downtown Salt Lick, Saturday, September 26, 10 – 5
- Kenna’s Impact Benefit Concert, Bath County High School Auditorium, Saturday, September 26, 5 p.m.
- Preston 5K Race for The Store, Saturday, October 3, registration at 7 a.m., race at 8 a.m.
- Car, Truck and Bike Show fundraiser for the Bath County Veterans Park, Saturday, October 3, 12 – 5 p.m.
- Bath County Community Outreach is sponsoring a raffle to raise money for Girl Scout Troop 2619 and for the Bath County Middle School Cheerleaders – Saturday, October 17, at 10 a.m. during Court Days at The Store in Preston, with 7 ticket drawings for 7 prizes. Tickets available at The Store, Willoughby’s Downhome Restaurant, Terry Wills, Mike Ray, Patricia Good paster, Tommy Cline and Morgan Howard, and Crystal Howard. The funds raised will be used for local projects for the Girls Scouts and toward the purchase of 9 new mats for the Cheerleaders for practice and competition.
-October 22, Job Fair in cooperation with Goodwill at the Morehead Conference Center, 11 – 2.
