Yesterday at approximately 09:20 AM OFD was dispatched to a vehicle fire at the 124 MM on I64. OPD responded and assisted with traffic control. OFD responded with 6 members via Engine Company 33 and Tanker Company 31. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the vehicle fire. 5000 gallons of water were used to extinguish and clean up the roadway. OFD cleared the scene without any further incident.

While returning to the station, OFD responded to a motorist assist in E Hwy 60 prior to Hart Pike Rd. OFD provided traffic control and assisted the disabled motorists into another vehicle. Cophers Towing removed the vehicle, and all lanes of travel were opened. OFD cleared that scene and returned to service.

We would like to thank OPD and Bath County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance. We would also like to thank the tow services for their assistance as well.

Remember, as Labor Day approaches, practice safe driving, be vigilant, and always slow down and move over for emergency vehicles and flashing lights.

Traffic alert

Use caution when traveling on W Highway 60. A vehicle accident has occurred between Crossroads Elementary and the intersection of Hart Pike. At this time, one lane is closed and traffic is being directed by crews. While clearing the scene, both lanes may be closed. The estimated time until the roadway is fully open is 4 hours.

Kentucky firefighter Sam Fuller, Unit 935, had been an active member of the department for a little over a year. Most recently, he met the love of his life and married his wife. Just weeks after their wedding, Sam was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Tragically, doctors informed him that there were no
