We want to extend a huge CONGRATULATIONS to Jeremiah Jury as he was presented with the highly competitive and exclusive Kentucky 4-H Emerald Award at Teen Conference this past week. The Emerald Award is presented to only four outstanding youth each year.

Jeremiah embodies each of the 4-Hs, Head, Heart, Hands, and Health and he never backs down from a challenge. I wanted to highlight a short excerpt from Jeremiah’s essay for his Emerald application, as I feel it embodies the kind of young person he has become:

“I am who I am because of lessons I learned from failure and the encouragement of success. Now… looking back at my 4-H journey, I realize I didn’t fail at all; in fact, I succeeded. I learned intentionality and purpose give way to hustle, hustle is the key to hard work, hard work is the foundation of improvement, and improvement is the beginning of success. I learned the most valuable asset in life is not money or fame, but the opportunity that awaits on the other side of every handshake, relationship, and experience.”

Join us in congratulating Jeremiah Jury on winning this prestigious award!

That’s a wrap on 2026 4-H Summer Camp! After a period of reflection (and lots of napping) I’m finally ready to make my camp post 😂

I feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to bring so many young people to a safe place for them to explore their passions, make new friends, and learn responsibility.

Thank you Stephanie Howard, Shannon Marlow, and Andrea Wilde for making our Check-In and Check-Out so smooth. They were able to push 76 people in and out of our office in less than 45 minutes! I also want to thank our program assistant Alissa Scheidt for helping me balance Camp and Teen Conference, she was at Camp the whole week AND helping transport youth to different Teen Conference activites.

Last, but certainly not least, I want to extend a HUGE shout out and thank you to our 11 Camp Counselors. Don, Cara, Trip, Rebecca, Chris, Willow, Chastity, Kimberly, Ginny, Cory, and Mike are the reason we are even able to go to camp! They are the magic that makes camp such a wonderful and safe place for our youth to explore their interests and grow into confident, capable, contributing members of our communities.

As we sing in our final reflection song at camp “Linger”, It’s just goodnight and not goodbye 🍀 We hope to see you all back next year (with even more friends!)
