It’s Guild week!!

These months are flying by fast!

We meet Thursday, August 6 at the Owensboro campus of Western KY University 4821 New Hartford Rd, 42303. The meeting starts at 9:30, but you can get there early to visit and get a good seat.

We will be discussing our “Stitched in Freedom” Quilt Show at Preservation Station at 9661 Hwy. 56, Owensboro, KY 42301 on September 11th from 10am-5pm, and September 12th from 10am-3pm. We are getting excited! The Village Mercantile from Boonville, IN will be there with her quilt shop. John Waid will be there sharpening scissors ($7 a pair). We will have a Guild Sales table with all kinds of goodies from scraps to rulers. We will have an antique quilt display, 3 raffle quilts to take a chance on winning, our gorgeous quilts hanging on poles for easy viewing, and much more.

You may visit twice before you become a member. We would love to see you!

Members, don’t forget:
1. Your quilt show registration forms.
2. Your name tag. You could win a prize!
3. Fat Quarter(s): Homespun or plaid for the fat quarter drawing.
4. Show and Tell (summer is the theme, but you can bring other quilts, too).
5. Do you have a tip to share about quilting? You can share it with us.

It’s Guild Week, and we are excited to announce that we have a new place to meet!! 🎉🎉🎈🎈

We will meet at Western Kentucky University here in Owensboro at 4281 New Hartford Rd, Owensboro, KY 42303. We meet Thursday, July 2, at 9:30.

As you turn left or right from New Hartford Road (also known as 231) turn into the entrance that says “Deer Park Elementary”. WKU-O shares it with Deer Park. The college faces the elementary school. Take a left into the parking lot for the college.

You can get there early to familiarize yourself with our new surroundings. There will be signs, and Board members will be there to help you. The meeting room is on the first floor, so it’s easy access.

Thank you to Kathy Reid and her daughter, Valerie, at Reid’s Orchard for letting us use their beautiful Events building for our May quilting event and for our June meeting. We definitely are better together, and we appreciate the care and concern you have for our guild.

We will be discussing our upcoming quilt show, “Stitched in Freedom” in the gym at Preservation Station on September 11 (10:00am-5pm) and 12th (10:00am-3pm), and our upcoming Wonky Star Quilt Event on August 20. Our Show and Tell is like going to a quilt show.

Wear your name tag for the name tag drawing.
Fat Quarter drawing is Sunflowers.
Show and Tell theme is Patriotic Quilts (you can bring other quilts, too).
Think of a quilt related tip you would love to share.

Happy June!! It’s going to be an exciting summer for our Guild.

It’s Guild week. Reid’s Orchard has graciously offered to host our June meeting in the Event’s Building. Thank you and God bless you, Reid’s Orchard, for supporting us as we find a place to meet.

Reid’s Orchard is located at 4818 KY-144 in Owensboro, KY 42303.

Our meeting will start at 9:30 am, Thursday, June 4th. You can get there by 9 am to meet other quilters and find a good seat.

We will have a business meeting followed by Show snd Tell where the members bring quilts to show what they have been working on the past couple of months. You can join in on our fun for $25.

Please mark your calendars for the “Stitched in Freedom” Quilt Show at the beautiful Preservation Station, 9661 State Rd. 56 , Owensboro, KY 42301 . The dates are Friday, September 11 from 10am-5pm, and Saturday, September 12 from 10am-3pm. Village Mercantile quilt shop from Boonville, IN will be our vendor, and our Guild will have a sales table with books, magazines, fabric, and more.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you!!

Good Monday morning to you!

We are still working on finding a place for our business meetings. Until then, our May Quilting Event will be at Reid’s Orchard at their Events building on Thursday, May 21 at 9:30. Get there a little earlier to set up your space. You may need to bring extension cords, too.

*****This is a workshop on how to be scrappy. If you want a patriotic quilt, please bring at least “18” of different blues and scraps of red, and white fabrics. It’s fun to swap fabrics with each other, too! Do Not Cut Any Fabric, please! It will be a fun quilt to make, and you will love the class. If you don’t want patriotic, you can choose many different 18” fabrics for your triangles and strips. *****

Bring a sack lunch and a drink with a screw on lid, your cutting mat, ruler, rotary cutter, and your stash to cut strips and squares. If you want it to be red, white, and blue it would be best to use blues for the triangles and strips of red and white for the other half.

Workshops are for members only, however, if you would like to participate it will be $25. Please leave a comment on this post if you would like to come. It’s up to the teacher depending on space and how many people she can teach.

Dear Followers of the OAQG page,

We will not be having our business meeting on May 7th.

Crosspointe Baptist Church decided to update their contract with us, and we, as a board, decided that it was not in our best interest.

We have called several places, but they haven't gotten back to us.

Our May 21 Quilting Event will be at Reids Orchard in their event building. Our newsletter person, Samantha, will be sending you the fabric requirements, and the cutting instructions. We

We were looking forward to seeing you, as always, but, we felt that this was in your best interest.

Change is hard, but change is good. I know that God has plans for us. We are creative, and we love to teach others the love of quilting as we have the past 42 years.

Thank you to Crosspointe Baptist Church for being our meeting place for the past 20+ years.
