A huge thank you to the students from Daviess County HS (Ky) Official who spent their Senior Service Day volunteering at Puzzle Pieces.

These students worked hard across our campus helping with landscaping, trash collection, and outdoor cleanup projects that make a big difference for our clients, staff, and families.

As the weather gets warmer and our summer programming approaches, having community members willing to give their time and energy means so much to us. We are grateful for students who chose to spend part of their senior year serving others and investing in our mission.

Thank you for helping make our campus a better place.

We are excited to celebrate another group of incredible graduates from our Puzzle Pieces family. 🎓

Congratulations to Ethan, Landon, and Emma on graduating from Daviess County HS (Ky) Official! We are so proud of the hard work, growth, and determination each of them has shown throughout their journey.

We also want to celebrate Lesley on graduating from Owensboro Community & Technical College, where she earned her Career and Life Skills Certification.

Milestones like these represent so much more than a diploma or certificate — they reflect perseverance, support systems, personal growth, and bright futures ahead. We cannot wait to see what each of these graduates accomplishes next.

Congratulations, graduates!

We are proud to celebrate two members of our Puzzle Pieces team, Cassie and Sheridan, who were recently sworn in as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) with CASA of Ohio Valley.

Court Appointed Special Advocates are specially trained community volunteers appointed by judges to advocate for the best interests of abused, neglected, or dependent children within the family court system. Their advocacy can make a life-changing impact for children and youth who have experienced abuse or neglect, many of whom are in foster care.

At Puzzle Pieces, we are incredibly proud to see members of our team continue serving and advocating for vulnerable individuals both inside and outside of our organization. Cassie and Sheridan’s willingness to step into this important role speaks to the compassion and heart they bring to everything they do.

Congratulations, Cassie and Sheridan — and thank you for making a difference in our community.

We are incredibly grateful to the Owensboro Lions Club for their generous support of Puzzle Pieces.

At the Lions Club meeting in May, Puzzle Pieces and Wendell Foster were each presented with a generous donation made possible after the Owensboro Lions Club board voted to match an anonymous challenge gift.

Our Executive Director Amanda Owen represented Puzzle Pieces alongside Doug Hoyt and Kara Howard from Wendell Foster for the luncheon and presentations.

Community partnerships like these make a direct impact on the individuals and families we serve every day, and we are thankful for organizations like the Owensboro Lions Club that continue to invest in creating a more inclusive and supportive community for individuals with disabilities.

We are incredibly grateful to the Whitesville Lions Club for their continued support of Puzzle Pieces and the individuals we serve.

Recently, Whitesville Lions Club President Floyd Russelburg and Auction Chair Jan Mattingly presented donation checks to Puzzle Pieces and Wendell Foster from the proceeds of this year’s Chili Supper & Pie Auction.

Events like this are a true reflection of community — neighbors supporting neighbors and coming together to make a meaningful impact. We are thankful to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, baked, bid, and helped make the event such a success.

Your support helps us continue creating opportunities for individuals with disabilities across our community, and we are deeply appreciative of the Whitesville Lions Club for believing in our mission.

A little late posting this one — but definitely too special not to share.

Earlier this year, our friend Jeff Rhinerson led the Pledge of Allegiance at the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce’s Rooster Booster Breakfast, and it was such a meaningful moment for our community.

Jeff recently celebrated two years with the Daviess County Sheriff's Office where he made history as the first man with Down syndrome in Kentucky to be sworn in as a deputy and assistant court security officer. His role continues to represent something much bigger — creating more opportunities and changing perceptions about employment for individuals with disabilities.

We are proud to live in a community that continues to connect, empower, and include individuals of all abilities — and proud of Jeff for the example he sets every day.

At Puzzle Pieces, we utilize assistive and adaptive technology across our campus to help clients build independence in everyday activities.

Something as simple as an adaptive grip aid — like the one Peyton is using here while painting — can make a huge difference. These grips can also be used on items such as utensils, toothbrushes, markers, and other daily living tools to help individuals maintain a more secure and comfortable grip.

We also incorporate adaptive spoons, cups, plates, and other supportive tools throughout our programming to help clients participate more independently in activities that are meaningful to them.

Often, independence is built through small modifications that create big opportunities.
