Do you possess a caring heart, the desire to serve others and seek the fulfillment of giving back to your community?
GRADD has exciting and rewarding opportunities with its AmeriCorps Senior Connections program waiting for you!

Senior Connections members serve at non-profit, faith-based, and public agencies offering services to senior citizens in Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union and Webster counties.

Senior Connections seeks to reduce the rate of food insecurity for our senior citizens, assist them in living independently in their own homes, ensure they have an effective social support system, a reliable and sustainable source of nutrition and ensure they are resilient.

Senior Connections members commit to serving 1,700 hours from September 1, 2023, through August 31, 2024. As an AmeriCorps member, you will receive a living allowance stipend of $17,600. Upon successful completion of service, you will receive a $6,895 educational award that can be used for educational expenses. Those 55 years of age or older may transfer their award to a child or grandchild. Members also may qualify for limited health benefits and child assistance.

To learn more about this life-changing opportunity and how you can be a part contact Brad Alley or Mary Ashford at 270-926-4433 or email [email protected].

A recruitment meeting will be held at the GRADD office on Thursday, June 22, 2023, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The GRADD office is located at 300 GRADD Way in Owensboro.

We are celebrating by highlighting some of GRADD’s AmeriCorps members. Today, we talked to Jeremy Camp, who serves St. Benedict’s Homeless Shelter.

“I joined AmeriCorps because I wanted to give back to my community. The education award helped me return to school to become a social worker – I will complete my degree this fall. St. Benedict’s gives men of all ages a place to eat, sleep, and rest, but it also offers programs to help these men rebuild their lives – from help getting sober to rent assistance. The best part about my service as an AmeriCorps member has been getting to know the men at the shelter and helping them graduate through each step of getting back on their feet.”

We are celebrating by highlighting some of GRADD’s AmeriCorps members. Today, we talked to Dianne Morris, who serves the Housing Authority of Owensboro at Adams Village Community Center.

“The Housing Authority offers programs and activities for seniors and people with disabilities to help them stay active and healthy. Through my AmeriCorps service, I have been able to help provide meals at Adams Village Community Center. I work with God’s Outreach to stock our food pantry at Adams Village, which has been a truly needed blessing. My favorite part of my AmeriCorps service is watching seniors come in for a meal and seeing they’re happy, laughing, and talking with the other seniors about upcoming events at Adams Village. It’s very fulfilling.”
