Meet Laura Stephenson on this weeks board member spotlight! Dean Stephenson is from Wi******er, KY, and represents UK Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. In Dean Stephenson's words, she believes that the decisions she makes is rooted in the commitment to our land-grant university mission - to have a responsibility to put knowledge to work.

Through teaching, research and Extension, we connect the expertise of our university with the needs of our farmers, businesses, families, and communities. That mission is especially important as Kentucky producers navigate rising costs, changing markets, extreme weather and other complex challenges. Helping our farmers succeed requires us to listen to their needs, bring the right people together and turn promising ideas into practical solutions. By connecting faculty, staff and Extension agents with producers, researchers, entrepreneurs, industry leaders and communities, we are creating an environment where innovation can move from an idea to real-world application for the future of Kentucky agriculture.

Additionally, we are preparing our students to be the next generation of leaders, problem-solvers and innovators. The future of agriculture will require leaders who can bring people together, solve complex problems and help their communities adapt to change. Whether the issue is food security, animal health, environmental stewardship, economic development or strengthening rural communities, agriculture needs thoughtful, engaged leaders who are willing to make a difference.
