We are so excited to finally announce our winners for Operation Community Cleanup!
🏆First Place Overall goes to the Daviess County High School football team, bringing in a whopping 28,600 points—which is 53 bags of trash, plus 17 items that wouldn’t fit in bags. Way to go guys!
🏆Second Place Overall goes to the Daviess County High School boys soccer team! They collected 40 bags of trash, and one large item for a total of 23,900 points!
🏆Third Place Overall goes to the Chamber of Commerce with 32 bags and 25 items too big for a bag, for a total of 19,100 points. These guys give it their all every single year and we are so thankful for them!
🏆Our school winner this year goes to Daviess County High School! The football team and boys soccer really blew us away this year, and the cheer team and dance team are still planning to participate on their own.
🏆Our first ever “Junkyard Joke” trophy is awarded to Jordan Stamper (DCHS Football team) for finding a fiddle bow on HWY 231. We consider this a true Issac God-wink, because as many of you know, Issac had a love for the fiddle and it was so special to him! 🎻💙
Honorable mention to a Popeye (another one of Issac’s favorites) wallet, and a Mrs. Potts (yes, from Beauty and the Beast) tea kettle!
We also want to give a shout out to Girl Scout Troop 1490—these girls found a Dollar General shopping cart in a creek and cleaned it up and returned it to the store to give it a second life.
We are beyond amazed with how our community showed up for us yet again, despite the weather forcing us to reschedule the main event day. This year, we have had over 800 volunteers picking up trash, for a total of 430+ large 45-gallon trash bags being filled, and over 100 items found that wouldn’t fit in bags! That’s over 5,000 pounds of trash!
Whether you filled one bag or 30, we are so thankful to this community for beautifying our home, one piece of trash at a time. Thank you again to our amazing sponsors; we couldn’t make this event what it is without you! More photos to come. 🌎🌳🗑️
