It was a busy 24 hours for 🚑 Owego Emergency Squad 🚑

11 times we are called to help someone in need and had thousands in attendance for the Big Boy Train event.

During the event we had three on duty rigs staged at various intersections around the village. We were ready to respond to areas that may have otherwise been blocked due to the traffic and crowds.

Day in and day out in the Village of Owego and across the country, EMS workers are answering the call.

The needs of EMS have changed over the years and keeping up with demands comes at a cost.

More workers and volunteers are needed. Funding for specialized equipment is needed.

🚑 Owego EMS Safety Reminder 🚑

When seconds matter, being able to quickly locate your home can make all the difference.

Please take a moment to ensure your house or business is clearly marked with visible address numbers that can be easily seen from the road—both during the day and at night. Address numbers should be large, unobstructed by landscaping, and contrasting in color from the background.

Every day, emergency responders across the country lose valuable time searching for poorly marked or unmarked addresses. In a medical emergency, fire, or other critical incident, those lost seconds can impact patient care and outcomes.

✅ Make sure your address is:
• Clearly visible from the roadway
• Large enough to be read from a distance
• Reflective or illuminated at night
• Not blocked by trees, bushes, decorations, or snow

By clearly marking your property, you’re helping Owego EMS, fire departments, and law enforcement find you faster when you need us most.

A few minutes today could save precious time tomorrow.

🚑 Owego EMS Reaches 600 Calls in 2026! 🚑

Yesterday 5/29/2026, Owego EMS responded to our 600th call of 2026, a milestone that reflects the dedication of our staff and volunteers and the trust our community places in us every day.

📊 By the Numbers

* 600 calls handled in the first 5 months of 2026
* Average of 120 calls per month
* Average of approximately 4 calls per day since January 1, 2026

These numbers represent far more than statistics—they represent neighbors helping neighbors, emergencies answered, lives impacted, and a commitment to serving our community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

A special thank you goes out to our incredible crews. Whether responding in the middle of the night, covering extra shifts, maintaining equipment, or ensuring our ambulances are always ready to roll, your professionalism and dedication keep Owego EMS moving forward and our community protected.

👏 Thank you to all of our EMTs, Paramedics, drivers, dispatch partners, support staff, and volunteers for your hard work and commitment. Your efforts ensure that when someone calls for help, Owego EMS is ready to answer.

We will be celebrating with Owego Fire Department tonight in a parade to commemorate the homecoming of an antique piece of apparatus.

Watch out for the parade this evening around 5pm.

Coming home to Owego this week! Huge thanks to Owego Hose Teams, Inc. for their hard work and dedication in overseeing this project everyone who help support this financially. So excited to see it come back to Owego. Once we have an exact date/time we will share on here. We want to parade it back to its beautiful home.
