Candace Goodsell is a former Signing Day participant and 2021 OHS graduate. She spoke at this year's Signing Day event and is a great example of the success of our SteeleCoWorks program.

Candace interned at Federated Insurance in the Office Support Department during the spring semester of her senior year while taking PSEO classes at Riverland. After she graduated from high school, she was hired full-time and is currently working as a Property & Casualty Service Associate. Federated Insurance has a tuition reimbursement program that she is using to continue taking business classes at Riverland.

Our final celebration of our Signing Day students! Thanks to Workforce Coordinator Megan Horton for sharing their stories.

Michael Carr Jr. graduated from Medford High School. He had recently worked for House Chevrolet and From the Ground Up and then joined the family business MTC Services LLC after graduation. He is excited to learn the business and skills needed
to be successful in the concrete, underground utility industry.

Congrats to another one of our Signing Day students! Josh Mejia was interested in becoming an electrician after graduation. Through the Youth Skills Training Program that allows students to be hired at an approved company before they turn 18, he was the first student hired to work in assembly at Climate by Design. He transitioned into an electrical role and then accepted a full-time position in that department. He shared with Workforce Coordinator Megan Horton that he likes how people treat each other at CDI, everyone is very respectful and it’s like family. CDI shared that Josh is looked up to by the other YST employees and has also served as a mentor.

Congratulations to another SteeleCoWorks Signing Day participant!

Ethan Kubat is an 18-year-old from Owatonna High School. He has worked at Welker Custom Homes Inc. for the past two years. His dad also works there and has worked in construction all of his life, which is what sparked Ethan's interest in the field. His favorite thing to do is build houses, specifically framing and trim which he said is a peaceful part of the job. He has had a great experience at Welker and learned a lot and is excited to join them full-time.

Another SteeleCoWorks Signing Day participant to congratulate!

Jesus Zamarron is an 18-year-old from Owatonna High School. He started working in a part-time role at Climate by Design at the beginning of May and transitioned into a full-time assembly position. CDI shared that Jesus has done an outstanding job and is a quick learner.

We continue to celebrate SteeleCoWorks and our Signing Day students! Riley Myrom's past jobs included customer service at Fleet Farm, concrete, flooring, and working at the bowling alley. Early in the school year, Riley shared that he wanted to become an electrician after he graduated high school. He was deciding between the trades and this sounded like the best fit for him.

Workforce Coordinator Megan Horton set up tours and job shadows at R&K Electric for him to learn more about their business and specifically their apprentice program. He is most excited about the family environment at R&K and being hands on and learning more on the job.
