We enjoyed sharing this beautiful evening with our Family for Life community, remembering and celebrating the ways God worked in the past year! This year marked the milestone of 1,000 children cared for in FFL homes. We are humbled by the opportunity to support these families on their journey as they make a difference one child at a time.

We recently gathered for our Seventh Annual Foster Family Appreciation Night, and it filled our hearts to overflowing, as it does every year.

Over nine years ago, when Family for Life was only a vague idea, we dreamed of gathering the members of our community together in this way to celebrate and honor them. How surreal and how beautiful to see this dream fulfilled each year. Our annual event has become an altar: a place where we slow down, reflect, and recognize what the Lord has done in and through Family for Life. We continue to stand in awe of His faithfulness!

At this year’s event, we celebrated the milestone of 1,000 children finding love, care, and safety in Family for Life foster homes since our agency began. We lit 135 candles, representing the 135 children our families served this year and the lives that experienced light in the midst of dark seasons.

No words can express the pride and gratitude we feel for each of these families, the joy we experience as they build relationships among themselves and lift each other up, and the honor it is to walk alongside each of them in their journeys.

Welcome back the Campbell family! We always admire when families discern that they need to step away from foster care for a season, but we’re also delighted when they return! Scott and Camey didn’t stay away for long, and their whole household is eager to welcome children into their home again. This family loves and invests deeply, and we are so happy to have them back!

Meet the Swan family! Jordan and Hannah recognize the need for foster homes in Oklahoma and see this as a way they can invest in their community. We love this young couple’s willingness to share their home, free time, and hearts with children who need their care. They are all-in for whatever God has in store, and we are thrilled to have them!

Meet the Smith family! Even while still dating, Rick and Reegan anticipated fostering was in their future. Providing foster care runs in the family, and this couple fully understands that being “family” does not require blood-relation to someone. They are eager to provide a safe home for children of all ages while encouraging their parents on their journey to find healing. We can’t wait to see the lives they impact!

Meet the VanGorder family! Nate and Kenzi love children and have long considered pursuing foster care. They are engaging parents who look forward to offering fun, new experiences to children as they walk with them on their healing journey. We already love working with this family and are excited to watch them live out this calling!

Meet the Brydie family! David and Hailey lead a close-knit family and look forward to providing a caring home for a child who needs it. Their boys have caught their parents’ enthusiasm and are eager to welcome an extra sibling into their household. We look forward to seeing how God uses this family’s willingness!

Meet the Dalton family! Austin and Caitlen came to Family for Life open-minded and quickly embraced the goal of helping families heal and reunify. They are excited to partner with natural parents while also providing children a safe place for as long as is needed. We love this couple’s desire to support others in overcoming challenges, and we look forward to seeing how their foster care journey unfolds!

After two months of online coursework, Ashli and Taylor recently attended the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development’s week-long training in Oklahoma City to become certified TBRI practitioners!

Trust-Based Relational Intervention is a trauma-informed, evidence-based care model designed to support children from hard places. It focuses on using empowering principles to address a child’s physical needs, connecting principles to meet attachment needs, and correcting principles to disarm fear-based behaviors.

We are proud of these staff members for their hard work and investment in this training process, and we are excited to begin implementing more of the TBRI approach with our staff, our families, and the children they serve!

Meet Tomika! With a passion for working with children and a desire to leave the world better than she found it, Tomika stepped into foster care with intentionality and enthusiasm. She desires to come alongside parents and offer support while also providing a safe place for their children. We are happy to have her in our community and so proud of the work she’s already doing!
