🤠🇺🇸 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE OWASSO IPRA CHAMPIONSHIP RODEO! 🇺🇸🤠

The Owasso VFW Post 7180 has been asked to assist with the 42nd Annual IPRA Championship Rodeo on June 12th and 13th at McCarty Park in Owasso.

We have committed to:
🔹 Presenting the Colors during the Opening Ceremony each evening (we have our volunteers for this)
🔹 Assisting with gate coverage during the rodeo (NEED volunteers, - tickets will be provided)

We already have two volunteers committed to helping at the gates, but we still need four volunteers each night to fully cover our assignment.

This is a great opportunity to support a longtime Owasso community event, represent our Post, and show our continued commitment to serving our community.

📅 Dates: June 12 & 13, 2026
📍 Location: McCarty Park, 8120 N. 91st E. Ave., Owasso
🕗 Rodeo Starts: 8:00 PM nightly

This month, we are proud to recognize Arden Wilkinson, a dedicated Vietnam Veteran and Life Member who has been an important part of our Post since 2012.

Arden's commitment to Post 7180 extends far beyond membership. He proudly served as Post Commander for two years and dedicated eight years as Chairman of the Voice of Democracy Program, helping inspire and educate future generations about patriotism and civic responsibility.

Please join us in thanking Arden Wilkinson for his service to our nation, his leadership within our Post, and his unwavering commitment to our veterans and community.

As many of you noticed, there were not American flags placed at Fairview Cemetery this Memorial Day weekend. We wanted to take a moment to explain and sincerely apologize to our community and the families of our fallen service members.

For many years, Owasso VFW Post 7180 has proudly placed flags at Fairview Cemetery to honor and remember those who gave their lives in service to our nation. This year, we had planned and publicly announced our flag placement for Thursday, May 21st.

Unfortunately, severe weather conditions forced us to make the difficult decision to cancel. Heavy rain began Thursday and continued through much of Saturday, leaving the cemetery grounds extremely wet and muddy. With many of our volunteers being older veterans, along with children and families who often help, we felt continuing could create unsafe conditions and increase the risk of slips and falls.

Please know this decision was not made lightly. Honoring and remembering our fallen servicemen and women remains one of the highest priorities of our VFW Post. We would never intentionally show disrespect to those who served or to their families.

We sincerely apologize for any disappointment or hurt this may have caused and appreciate your understanding, support, and continued commitment to remembering the true meaning of Memorial Day.
