🚒 Off Duty, Still Answering the Call!
Last month, Owasso Firefighter Maxwell Smith was competing in Scotfest's Highland Games when a bystander suddenly went into cardiac arrest.
Maxwell was the first to respond, immediately beginning lifesaving resuscitation efforts until crews from the Broken Arrow Fire Department arrived. He continued assisting firefighters on scene before the patient was transported to a hospital after showing some changes in heart rhythm.
While we don't have an update on the patient's current condition, we're grateful Maxwell was there to provide immediate assistance during such a critical moment.
Maxwell's connection with BAFD goes back to a joint recruit academy with the Owasso Fire Department, highlighting the strong relationships and teamwork between our departments.
We're proud of Maxwell for stepping up when it mattered most and demonstrating that the commitment to serving others extends well beyond the fire station!
