Healthy relationships don’t just happen — they’re built. 💚

If you’re a teen (or love one), here are 5 signs you’re in a relationship worth protecting:

✅ You feel safe saying “no” — and it’s respected.
✅ Your friends and family still feel like your people, not competition.
✅ Disagreements happen without threats, guilt, or punishment.
✅ You’re celebrated for who you are — not controlled into who they want you to be.
✅ You feel better about yourself, not smaller.

Love should never make you feel like you’re walking on eggshells. If something feels off, trust that feeling. You deserve relationships that feel like home — safe, steady, and real.

💜 Share this with a teen you love.

🚩 Red flags aren’t just for romantic relationships — they show up in friendships too.

If someone consistently makes you feel small, doubted, or like you have to earn their loyalty… that’s not a safe friendship.

You deserve people who celebrate you, protect your trust, and show up. Save this list and share it with a teen you love. 💛

PTSD Awareness Month: The Trauma Teens Carry

When we talk about teen dating violence, we often focus on the relationship itself — but the impact doesn’t end when the relationship does. Trauma from an abusive relationship can follow a teen long after they’ve left it. Hypervigilance. Nightmares. Anxiety in new relationships. Difficulty trusting. Flashbacks triggered by something as small as a song or a smell. This is PTSD, and it’s real, and it’s common among survivors of dating violence.

This June, for PTSD Awareness Month, we want every teen and parent to know: healing is not linear, and it is not a sign of weakness. If a teen in your life seems “different” after a relationship ends — more withdrawn, more anxious, more on edge — that’s not them being dramatic. That could be trauma. And trauma deserves support, not silence.

What you can do: listen without judgment, validate their experience, encourage professional support if symptoms persist, and remind them that what happened to them was not their fault.

Healing is possible. Support is available. You are not alone.

Only 9% of teens in abusive relationships ever report it. That means 91% stay silent. Not because they don’t need help. Because they don’t know it’s abuse. Because they’re afraid. Because no one taught them what love is supposed to look like. That’s why Love Doesn’t Hurt exists. We’re changing that — one teen, one classroom, one conversation at a time. 💛

🚨 Does your teen know the warning signs of dating violence?

It doesn’t always start with physical harm. Often, it begins quietly — with control.

Here are signs to watch for:

🔴 Constant texting to “check in” or demanding to know your location at all times
🔴 Jealousy framed as love — “I act this way because I care about you”
🔴 Pulling you away from friends and family
🔴 Criticizing how you look, dress, or act
🔴 Pressure to do things you’re not comfortable with
🔴 Extreme mood swings — amazing one moment, frightening the next

If something feels off, trust that feeling. Healthy relationships feel safe — always.
