Thanks to the AIA Kansas City Pillars Leadership Program for having Climate Action KC to round out such an impressive day of programming for your April session! Their day focused on sustainability and multi-scale strategies shaping healthier, more resilient communities across the Kansas City region. Great discussion about how we partner across sectors to build better buildings in Kansas City!

We’re back in Kansas City after three packed days at the Midwest Climate Collaborative 2026 Climate Summit in Cleveland. Grateful for the combined value of experiences like these - both learning about shared issues from climate leaders across MCC’s member states and having extended and focused time with our KC contingent. (Those pictured and not pictured!) Thanks to the organizers for creating this opportunity!

It was great to hear Rachel Stroer, Executive Director at The Land Institute and Climate Action KC Board Member, answer questions following the short film Beer Saves the World at Casual Animal Brewing Co. this week. The film featured Kernza, a perennial grain used, among other ways, to make beer!

Rachel will be answering more questions at the Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center tomorrow, March 28, at 1:30PM following a screening of a documentary film (60 min.) about the global movement toward sustainability through natural systems agriculture. Missouri Dept. of Conservation
Thanks to City of Kansas City Office of Environmental Quality for organizing!

Another great program from Plug-In KC, an initiative of Climate Action KC, is now available for viewing. Check out “2026: The State of EV Charging in Kansas City” at the link below and thanks again to our excellent presenters!

What did regional leaders say about the future of EV Charging in Kansas City at our panel discussion? Read the takeaways, get access to presenter slides and resources, and then view the full event recording for yourself:

From local rebates that incentivize charging installation, to fleet electrification strategies, to rural infrastructure constraints, and federal funding uncertainty — this conversation highlighted both the momentum behind electrification in our region and the practical realities of building a reliable charging ecosystem.
