💙 October brought out the best of our mechanical contracting community.

We broke records at our 18th Annual Charity Golf Outing supporting The Golden Scoop, celebrated students from Pittsburg State University and Kansas State University, and connected with our Young Professionals Committee for another great networking event.

Members also joined us for Breakfast with the Plumbers & Gasfitters Local 8 Business Manager, sharpened their focus in Mastering Your Memory, and built confidence through the WiMI Self-Defense Series.

Every event this month strengthened relationships, created opportunities, and showed the power of community within Kansas City’s mechanical contracting industry.

💙💛 A record-breaking day for a truly special cause!

Thanks to our incredible MCAKC community, this year’s 18th Annual Charity Golf Outing raised $66,870 for The Golden Scoop, a Kansas City nonprofit where individuals with developmental disabilities find meaningful work, mentorship, and belonging.

That brings our 18-year total to more than $550,000 raised to support the Kansas City community. Each year, this event reminds us how powerful our industry can be when we come together.

💦 Building a water park starts with building knowledge and experience.

Students from Pittsburg State University and Kansas State University joined us for a hands-on workshop to prepare for this year’s Mechanical Contractors Association of America's National Student Competition, where they’re developing mechanical proposals for a water park project.

Students met one-on-one with six MCAKC members to ask questions, refine their bids, and gain insights from experienced professionals.

After lunch, the group toured Margaritaville, getting a behind-the-scenes look at the mechanical systems thanks to Rodriquez Mechanical. It was a great opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world application.

Both chapters are aiming for the Final Four, and we’re grateful to our MCAKC community for helping them get one step closer.

Strength starts with knowing you can protect yourself.

Last week kicked off our WiMI-KC Women’s Self-Defense Training Series, and what an incredible start!

Women from across the mechanical industry came together to learn practical, real-world self-defense techniques under the expert guidance of Tyson Kilbey Jiu Jitsu black belt and 28-year law enforcement veteran.

Participants walked away with new skills, stronger confidence, and a renewed sense of empowerment. Proving that safety starts with awareness and preparation.

🍻 Collaboration. Connection. Community.

This month, MCAKC’s Young Professionals Committee (YPC) brought emerging leaders from across the mechanical contracting industry together for two great events!

✅ Boulevard Brewing Company Tour & Tasting – 24 attendees enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look at one of Kansas City’s most iconic breweries, complete with a tasting, and great conversation.

🍽️ JCCC Culinary Class – 29 attendees teamed up for a hands-on cooking class, learning new techniques and recipes while building stronger professional connections.

Both events captured what the YPC is all about: creating opportunities for young professionals to connect, share, and grow within Kansas City’s MEP community.

🏔 Mountains of Opportunity perfectly describes this year’s Mechanical Contractors Association of America's GreatFutures Forum in Salt Lake City, where our students truly rose to the occasion.

We were proud to support Kansas State University and Pittsburg State University, who brought 13 students to join more than 150 future professionals from 33 student chapters across the country.

From the TP Challenge to curling on Olympic ice, students connected with MCAA alumni, board members, and industry leaders who shared valuable insights about careers in mechanical contracting.

We’re thankful for everyone who continues to invest time and expertise in helping these students grow. Both chapters came back inspired and ready to tackle their national competition projects this winter!
