The Maxwell T. Ward Foundation is proud to announce another edition of its annual summer fundraiser, the Xam-Slam volleyball tournament, which will take place on July 25th, 2026. It has been ten years since we began this journey to honor Max Ward by making a difference for kids in Kansas City with congenital heart disease. In those ten years, we have contributed over $420,000 to that noble cause. Throughout our history, we have relied almost exclusively on volunteers, meaning that over 99% of the funds we’ve raised have been channeled directly toward our core mission. Max found joy in everything that he did, and it is his unique spirit and zest for life that has brought us to where we are today, over a decade after his tragic passing.
This year’s Xam-Slam will also mark a change for the Foundation: this will be the final Xam-Slam that the Foundation puts on directly, and we want to make it the biggest one yet. Shawnee Mission Beach Volleyball will again be our venue, with a new evening start time to avoid some of the late-July mid-day heat. Once the tournament concludes, we hope you’ll stay with us to toast Max and celebrate many years of wonderful memories.
