Some instruments carry a lifetime of music inside them. 🎺
This man has played the tuba since he was little. It's been part of who he is for as long as he can remember.
When playing started getting harder, he didn't want to let it go. He bought a brand-new tuba with three valves instead of four, hoping the simpler setup would let him keep doing the thing he loved.
He has since come to a point where his hands can no longer press the keys.
That's a hard thing to accept — and an even harder thing to walk away from. But instead of letting his tuba sit silent in a closet, he chose to give it away. He donated it to Band of Angels.
That's not just an instrument. That's a lifetime of dedication, a hopeful purchase, and a piece of someone's heart — handed forward so another young musician can begin their own story.
We are deeply, profoundly grateful. Because of him, a student who couldn't otherwise afford it will hold a tuba in their hands and hear their first note.
Music doesn't end when we stop playing. It keeps going — through the next pair of hands. 💙
