Mayor La Rochelle Young highlights the second-grade Learn to Swim program, a partnership with USD 409 Atchison public schools that helps local kids build essential water safety and swimming skills. 💧

And that’s just one part of the Atchison Family YMCA/Cray Community Center story.

🏌️ Golf brought us together. Community made it count. 💙

We were proud to join AdventHealth as a community sponsor for the AdventHealth Championship!

A few of our YMCA kids had the exciting opportunity to participate in the Tom Watson Clinic, while Family Day brought everyone together for some fun, including a bounce house provided by the Y!

On Championship Sunday, our Behavioral Health team was also on-site sharing resources and starting conversations about mental and behavioral health. Because staying healthy isn’t only about physical activity. It’s about supporting the whole person.

Thank you to AdventHealth and Doug Spear for inviting the YMCA of Greater Kansas City to be part of such a special weekend and for continuing to invest in the health and well-being of our community. 💙

The YMCA STEAM Alliance started right here at the YMCA of Greater Kansas City with a simple idea: connect kids with the people using science, technology, engineering, art and math every day.

Through partnerships with HDR, Henderson Engineers, the Missouri AfterSchool Network (MASN) and TREKK Design Group, kids are getting more opportunities for hands-on, real-world learning, from STEM kits and mentorship to designing and building their own projects.

It’s more than learning how something works. It’s helping kids see that they could be the engineers, designers and problem-solvers shaping Kansas City’s future. 💙

🎉 20 YEARS OF THE PROVIDENCE YMCA! 💙

On Monday, we celebrated two decades of connection, belonging and community at the Providence YMCA/Ball Family Center!

Since opening its doors in 2006, the Providence Y has been so much more than a building. It’s been a place where kids learned to swim, families found support, neighbors became friends and generations of Wyandotte County residents found a place to belong.

A special thank you to Stacy Stephens, Executive Director of the Providence YMCA/Ball Family Center, for leading the celebration, and Mark Hulet, YMCA of Greater Kansas City President and CEO, for sharing the history and memories of the Providence Y’s beginnings.

We were also honored to recognize David Ball's family, who helped cut the ribbon when the Y first opened its doors 20 years ago, and to welcome Gordon Criswell, Senior Advisor to Mayor Christal Watson and Providence YMCA Community Mission Board member, who presented an official proclamation from the Unified Government recognizing this milestone.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of our story, from those who helped open the doors in 2006 to those walking through them today.

Here’s to the memories we’ve made, the community we’ve built, and the next 20 years! 🎉

On September 12, the YMCA of Greater Kansas City hosts the Challenger All-Star Classic at Urban Youth Academy — a full All-Star experience for kids of all abilities in the Y's Challenger sports program. Player introductions, an emcee, a cheering crowd, and a night that these athletes and their families will talk about for years.
