💗 This October, we stand together.

Cancer can touch every part of a person’s life, but no one should have to face it alone.

Throughout Cancer Awareness Month, we’re recognizing survivors, honoring loved ones and celebrating the strength of those navigating their cancer journey.

Through programs like LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, we’re proud to provide a welcoming community where cancer survivors can rebuild strength in spirit, mind and body.

This month and every month, the Y is here to support, encourage and connect.

🎉 25 YEARS OF STRONGER COMMUNITY IN OLATHE! 💜 What an unforgettable celebration marking a quarter-century of connection, health, and belonging at the Olathe Family YMCA!

Since 2001, the Olathe Y has been so much more than just a building. It’s been a place where kids learned to swim, families grew together, neighbors became friends, and generations of Johnson County residents found a place to belong.

We were honored to hear from Drs. Bob and Mary Fry, whose tireless dedication helped bring the Olathe Y to life from the very beginning. Alongside Mark Hulet, YMCA of Greater Kansas City President and CEO, they shared moving memories of the Y’s early vision and lasting legacy.

A special thank you to Councilwoman Robyn Essex for presenting an official proclamation on behalf of Olathe Mayor John Bacon, recognizing this 25-year milestone! 📜✨

To everyone who has been part of our story—from those like Dr. Bob who worked tirelessly to open the doors in 2001, to those walking through them today—thank you. Here’s to the next 25 years! 🥳🥂

⚾ It’s so much more than baseball.

For 20 years, YMCA Challenger has created a place where athletes can compete, families can come together, friendships can grow and everyone can simply have fun.

YMCA Board Member Mark Moberly, who co-chaired this year’s Cause for Celebration alongside his wife, Kerri Stowell, reflects on what makes Challenger so special and what they hope to see in the years ahead: more athletes, more families, more buddies and more supporters helping the program grow.

💙 As Mark puts it, the goal is simple: be twice as big 20 years from now.

Here’s to continuing to grow Challenger together.

Mental health is health. Period. 🧠✨

At the Y, wellness has always been about the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. On this , we want to remind our Kansas City community that taking care of your mental well-being matters every single day, and you don’t have to carry life’s heavy seasons alone.

Mental health support looks different for everyone. Today, taking care of yourself might look like:
✨ Moving your body in a way that feels good
✨ Connecting with a friend or neighbor
✨ Setting boundaries and giving yourself permission to rest
✨ Reaching out for help when things feel overwhelming

Whether you find peace in a quiet routine or strength in community, you belong here—just as you are. Let’s break the stigma, check in on one another, and remember that seeking support is a sign of strength. 💙

What is one small way you’re caring for your mind today? Let us know below. 👇

If you or someone you know needs support, help is always available. Call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.
