One of our own, Pet Partner Therapy Cat, Hazel, and handler, Julie, were featured in a champion spotlight at the Village Shalom with volunteer coordinator, John Gilbert!

Village Shalom is a continuing care retirement community offering independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and short term rehab.

There’s a quiet rhythm to life at Village Shalom, one that begins early and continues long after the day ends.

One of our own, Patty Levine, was honored by NKC Health hospital recently with her 9 year old partner, Charm! Patty has been a member of Pet Partners since 2001 with her first partner, Cheri and has been visiting NKC hospital since 2005. Thank you Patty for your continued service and bringing joy to both the patients and staff at NKC Health!

Alice and her partner, Salvy were at the Mid-Continent Public Library Red Bridge branch last month and had a great visit with many kids. One in particular enjoys reading to Salvy so much, that he comes to read to Salvy whenever he can.

Here is one of Mo-Kan’s therapy animals, Mo, getting a tummy rub from one of the staff members at Benedictine Living Community in St. Joseph. Ro, Joker, Elaine and Mo will visit the facility often spending time with the patients there, but also get some quality time in the hallways with the nursing staff and other employees. 🥰

On June 23rd, Mo and Joker helped relieve stress and provided a pawsitive boost at Excelsior Springs Job Corp Center. The students loved learning stress-relief skills through pet therapy and left with nothing but good vibes and wagging energy.

A week ago, Jenny and her partner, Lady had the opportunity to deploy with the Missouri Behavioral Health Strike (BHST) team in support of a group of courageous first responders who worked a very difficult scene. They were honored to be a part of this important deployment.

Here's our evaluation process with handlers testing to renew their registration with their therapy animals. A Pet Partners evaluation is a simulated therapy visit that tests your pet's manners, sociability, and how well you work as a team. Our teams evaluate every two years to maintain these skills and ensure that the therapy animal continues to enjoy doing this kind of work. See them in action. ☺️

Mo-Kan Pet Partners had their annual meeting on 6/6/26 and had some great updates! Our new website which is scheduled to go live around some time in August was introduced by one of our Team leaders Dwayne Schwartz and his partner, Captain.

The bylaws were amended and approved, and there were some other important updates followed by a raffle with great prizes.

Thanks to our leaders for organizing and to all those who attended. Here’s to another great year!!
