Our member Bibiana would like to invite all the Czech and Slovak Club members to her doctoral piano recital on Saturday, Oct 3 at 5 PM in White Recital Hall at the James C. Olson Performing Arts Center at UMKC.

Admission is free and there is metered parking available in the area. The parking map can be found here:https://www.umkc.edu/documents/umkc-volker-campus-map.pdf

For those who can't make it, there will also be a livestream via the UMKC Conservatory YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com//streams
A direct link to the livestream should become available around 30 minutes before the recital starts.

Presidential Talk with His Excellency Petr Pavel, President of the Czech Republic

Global Affairs at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln is pleased to invite you to a special Presidential Talk with His Excellency Petr Pavel, President of the Czech Republic, on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to noon.

President Pavel will join Interim Chancellor Katherine S. Ankerson and University of Nebraska System President Dr. Jeffrey P. Gold for a conversation exploring the enduring relationship between the Czech Republic and Nebraska, with particular attention to the connections forged through shared histories, cultural traditions, and transatlantic partnerships.

Registration
To register for the event, please visit the event webpage (https://chancellor.unl.edu/his-excellency-petr-pavel-president-czech-republic/) and complete the registration. Seating in Kimball Recital Hall is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will close once all available seats have been reserved or at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2026, whichever occurs first.

What a meaningful celebration of the Slovak Constitution Day. We got to learn some Slovak history, had a meaningful flag raising, great fellowship with food and drinks but also got to see the history of Slovaks in our region at the Sugar Creek Historical Museum. Thanks to our Honorary Slovak Consul Terry Smitka for this great event.
Also thank you to the Sugar Creek Slavic Festival, our club volunteers and the city of Sugar Creek.

It's almost here!!! Pur dancers perform at 7:30 on Friday and we'll be selling koláče and souvenirs. This year we also have some candy, so come early before we sell out.
