🏆 Adapted Tennis Championships 🏆

The 2026 USTA Missouri Valley Adapted Tennis Championships took place yesterday. Doubles tandems from across the section competed in a fun-filled atmosphere at Kossover Tennis Center in Topeka, Kan.

Standout adaptive tennis players paired with a unified partner for multiple rounds of timed matches. Teams were vying for advancement to nationals taking place later this year.

Great work by all competitors! The annual Fred Johnson ALL Stars event keeps the fun rolling tomorrow in Topeka 🤙🏼

Today saw all 4 age divisions (12s, 14s, 16s, 18s) compete and the 12s and 14s doubles champs crowned!

In Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Wheelchair Tennis, the Wichita Tennis Open hosted the number one ranked men’s wheelchair player in the U.S., Casey Ratzlaff, for a special exhibition and youth wheelchair tennis clinic.
Tournament Director and Wheelchair Tennis Hall of Famer, Nick Taylor led the exhibition with some education for the crowd. Both Nick and Casey are Wichita natives, and Casey’s first exposure to Wheelchair Tennis was through a clinic led by Nick.

The United States Tennis Association recently awarded more than $100,000 in USTA Wheelchair Tennis Grassroots Grants to 44 wheelchair tennis programs across the U.S.

Of those 44 the following 5 organizations from USTA Missouri Valley received grants:
🎾 The Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges (Tulsa, Okla.)
🎾 Dwight F. Davis Memorial Tennis Center (St. Louis, Mo.)
🎾 Friends of Woods Tennis, Inc. (Lincoln, Neb.)
🎾 Midwest Adaptive Sports (Kansas City, Mo.)
🎾 QCA Adaptive Sports Association (Davenport, Iowa)

We're about 2 months out from the Nebraska Senior Games!

To qualify for the 2027 National Senior Games in Tulsa, individuals must first compete in a qualifying state senior games in 2026.

The 2026 Nebraska Senior Games include tennis on Aug. 6-9 indoors at the Ernest Grundy Tennis Center in Kearney.

The USTA Missouri Valley “Valley Cup” is off to a great start with the Jayhawk Open taking place in Topeka, Kansas these past couple of days!

The Valley Cup is a prize-money series consisting of seven district-level (Level 5) tournaments offered throughout USTA Missouri Valley in 2026. (MUST be a USTA Missouri Valley resident to win the prize money!)
