JoCo IHN: A Community Response to Homelessness

The majority of unhoused individuals in Johnson County are currently employed. There are many myths and assumptions made about individuals facing housing instability. Help share accurate information:

Advocates say homelessness in Kansas is mainly caused by a lack of affordable housing, not issues like mental health. Efforts to increase housing stock have built thousands of new units, but it’s not enough, and some communities oppose new developments.

To all of the male caregivers in our network, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Each of you have made sacrifices to "lift up" your brothers and sisters in need. Your gifts of time, talents, and treasures have planted positive generational seeds in the lives of 886 individuals, 510 of those we have "lifted up" are children, and 94 were single unaccompanied female guests. As of today, YOU have worked together to provide 57,350 bednights, and 172,050 meals. Truly remarkable numbers for our inspirational IHN Family!

May God bless each of you with a day filled with joy, the love of family, and the peace that comes from knowing that you have blessed so many individuals with the gift of your love!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Each of you have made sacrifices to "lift up" your brothers and sisters in need. Your gifts of time, talents, and treasures have planted positive generational seeds in the lives of 884 individuals, 509 of those we have "lifted up" are children. As of today, YOU have worked together to provide 56,895 bednights, and 170,685 meals. Truly amazing numbers for our inspirational IHN Family!

YOU have made it possible for the past, present and future women in our network to find the strength, and take the steps to create a safe, nurturing, and loving environment for their children. YOU have made it possible for our two parent families to have the opportunity to stabilize their families while working toward a better, brighter future. YOU have made it possible for our single unaccompanied female guests to regain stability, while finding comfort in our IHN family. YOU have given your unconditional love, and there is no greater gift!!!

May each of you be blessed by a day filled with joy, the love of family, and the peace that comes from knowing that you have blessed so many individuals with the gift of your love!

We are in need of volunteers to support the planning and set up for our annual auction event, which will be Sept. 28. If you love to decorate, design baskets/gift bags, or could help us procure auction donations, we would love to have you! Please send us a message if you can help.

March has been a great month for JoCo IHN! At our March training session, 29 new volunteers were trained! We are also sharing thanks for a donor who provided a used car for a single mother of two little ones. This is such a gift, to have reliable transportation to work and child care, which will help her accelerate her successful graduation from the program. Thank you donors!

A remarkable milestone: As of January 9, 2023, JoCo IHN has worked together to lift up and empower 500 children. These 500 little souls would not have had a bed on which to lay their head, or food to nourish their bodies.

As of today, JoCo IHN has lifted up and empowered a total of 870 individuals, 500 of which are children, and 92 are single women. YOU have worked together to provide 55,919 bednights, as well as 167,757 meals.

We are all so very blessed to be able to walk alongside our guests as they travel their journey back to stability. YOU have all played a key role in planting positive seeds in countless future generations! What a great gift we have in our IHN Family
