This year, Jewish Federation of Kansas City’s Rabbi Gershon Hadas Society scholarship fund provided a total of $84,153 to 60 campers for summer 2026.

Immersive Jewish experiences, like summer camp, are some of the most impactful Jewish programs available to children. They help shape how youth view Judaism and instill Jewish pride, identity and belonging.

Federation is proud to support our Kansas City youth and families by making summer camp more accessible. Support Jewish summer camp grants here: https://www.jewishkansascity.org/guardiandonate

This week, Jewish Federation of Kansas City had the honor of welcoming Annie Sandler, President of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), and Reut Friedman, Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships at JDC, to Kansas City.

Sandler and Friedman spoke about the rebuilding work their organization provides in Israel, the relief work they provide in Ukraine, and an inside look at Kansas City's partner communities in Romania and Bulgaria.

This morning, community professionals and lay leaders joined Jewish Federation for a special breakfast to hear firsthand about the work JDC does.

Today, our Jewish community remembers with sorrow and love the life of Kansas City native Sarah Milgrim, whose loss continues to weigh heavily on all who knew her and on all who believe in the dignity and sanctity of human life.

Sarah was a cherished member of our community — someone whose presence reflected the values we strive to uphold: compassion, curiosity, service, and deep care for others. On this anniversary, we remember not only the tragedy of her death, but the fullness of her life, her relationships, and the impact she made on those around her.

In Jewish tradition, memory is not passive. To remember is to carry forward a person’s values and spirit through our actions. As we reflect on Sarah’s life today, we recommit ourselves to building communities rooted in kindness, understanding, and courage in the face of hatred and violence.

Our hearts are with Sarah’s family and friends, today and always. May Sarah Milgrim’s memory forever be for a blessing.

Jewish Federations of North America mourn alongside the community of the Islamic Center in San Diego following today’s horrific shooting. No one should ever fear for their safety while gathering in prayer, community, or worship.

This tragedy comes as more than 400 Jewish Federation leaders from across the country arrive In Washington, DC, to advocate lawmakers for $1 billion in security funding to help protect houses of worship and faith-based institutions nationwide.

Today’s attack is yet another painful reminder that the threat facing religious communities in America is real, urgent, and growing.
