GREG BRANTMAN ART SCHOLARSHIP
If you know a student at SM North who is talented in art and who is a senior this year and would like to attend a university or trade school next year, please let them know about the Greg Brantman Art Scholarship application. It is a $1,000 scholarship, open to any senior at SM North High School. Deadline is MARCH 6!!

Students must work with one of the art teachers at North to fill out the application. They do not have to be in art classes, but they must have an art teacher guide them to submit examples of their best work. Art teachers at SM North are: Stephanie Dalley (AP Art teacher), Juliet Miller-Martin, Jamie Daylor, and Chandra Beadleston.

Hurry! The deadline is Friday, March 6!

Patti Streeper - Patrons Gallery at Shawnee Mission North High School -February 9 - March 3, 2026

Patti Streeper's large portraits of women in history will be on exhibit until March 3 In the Patrons Gallery. Don't miss this extraordinary show! Streeper's work is visually impactful, but also educational about women who have made significant, often overlooked or obscured, contributions to science, education, health, cultural arts, nursing, and human freedom. The show at North is only a portion of the 40-some paintings in her collection. The gallery is open M-F during school hours, 7:40-3:00. Enter through the main doors in front. The gallery is to the right of the office. SM North is located at 7401 Johnson Drive, Overland Park, KS.

The Brantman Patrons Gallery is proud to announce that the first Greg Brantman Art Scholarship has been awarded to Sarah Nielsen. She is planning to study Graphic Design in college.

We're so happy to have created this legacy scholarship honoring Greg Brantman, retired ceramics, jewelry and sculpture teacher and head of the art department during his 38 year career at SM North. This scholarship will be a source of support for talented art students who want to go to college.

We are continuing to raise funds for smaller scholarships to help students with summer studies and to bring workshops with professional artists into the school. If you'd like to help, please go to our website -

WE DID IT! WE DID IT!

Thanks to our amazing donors, we have raised $20,000 for the first ever art scholarship at SM North High School.

The Greg Brantman Art Scholarship is finally a reality! We will award our first scholarship this spring, giving $1,000 to a graduating senior who wants to continue their art studies at college or a tech art school. This yearly scholarship will never have to raise more money. What a great accomplishment and a great motivation for the art students!

The Patrons Gallery at SM North is a non-profit that raises money for scholarships and programming in the art department and in the gallery.
We are looking to hire an affordable accountant on an as-needed basis who can do an end-of-year report for the organization and file a 990 for us. We bring in under $50,000 a year so it is the simple 990.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

The Patrons Gallery is hosting a show of Jim Hamil original watercolors on September 9, from 6:30-7:30pm. Come join us for the opening!

We are also selling prints of Mr. Hamil's beautiful painting of SM North to raise money for the new Greg Brantman Art Scholarship. Large prints are 19.75x15 and are $20. Cards are 5x7 and are $4 each or 5 for $17.50. They'll be available at the opening or contact Cathy Thomas at [email protected] to order. Postage is $5.00 or pick up at school for free.
