📚Educational Wednesday: PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center... What's Up With That??
For over 25 years, Heartland Therapeutic Riding has proudly maintained its status as a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center—but what does that actually mean?
PATH Intl. (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International) is the organization that sets the industry standards for equine-assisted services. While becoming accredited is completely voluntary, centers that earn Premier Accreditation have demonstrated that they meet nationally recognized standards for safety, horse welfare, program quality, facility management, and participant care.
🌟So, how does a center become accredited?
The process is much more than filling out an application! Centers complete a comprehensive review of their operations, submit detailed documentation, and host a team of trained PATH Intl. site visitors who conduct an in-depth, on-site peer review. During the visit, they evaluate everything from our horses' care and facility safety to emergency procedures, instructor qualifications, and program operations. If a center successfully meets all applicable standards, it earns Premier Accredited status for five years before going through the reaccreditation process again.
🌟Why is accreditation important?
Being a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center means our participants, families, volunteers, and donors can trust that we are committed to providing safe, ethical, and high-quality equine-assisted services. Accreditation also encourages continual growth through education, professional development, networking opportunities, and access to scholarships and grants that help strengthen our program.
For 36 years, we've remained dedicated to these high standards because our riders, clients, volunteers, horses, and community deserve the very best. 💙🐴
Thank you for trusting Heartland Therapeutic Riding—we're honored to serve our community as a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center!
