Did you know?

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are linked to 7 of the 10 leading causes of death in the United States, showing how deeply childhood trauma can impact long-term health and well-being.

This is why the work of CASA volunteers is so important. By advocating for children in foster care and ensuring they have a consistent, caring adult by their side, CASA helps create stability, support healing, and give children a stronger path forward.

Together, we can help break cycles of trauma and build brighter futures for children in our community.

💙 Why CASA Uses a Pinwheel 💙

Have you ever wondered why CASA uses a pinwheel as a symbol? In many communities, especially during Child Abuse Prevention Month (April), CASA programs display blue pinwheels to raise awareness about child abuse and celebrate childhood.

At CASA of Johnson and Wyandotte Counties, our Pinwheels for a Purpose campaign highlights our mission: giving children in foster care a voice and creating brighter, safer futures for every child. 🌟

✨ Every pinwheel is a reminder that advocacy, care, and support can transform a child’s world.

Prevention is the first prescription. 💙

When families receive early support—like home visiting, parenting education, and guidance from advocates—children develop healthier brains, stronger immune systems, and greater emotional resilience.

At CASA, we strongly believe in family reintegration whenever it’s safe, and our volunteers provide the consistent support and advocacy children need to help families heal and thrive together!

🚨 Child Abuse: Know the Warning Signs 🚨

Children who are experiencing abuse may show physical, emotional, or behavioral signs. Look out for unexplained injuries, sudden changes in behavior, fear of certain people or places, self-harm, or signs of neglect. They may also display unusual sexual knowledge or act out sexually, experience disturbed sleep, or struggle with anxiety, depression, or withdrawal.

Everyone has a role to play in ensuring children are safe and protected! If you suspect a child is being abused, call 911 or Child Protective Services.

💙 April is Child Abuse Prevention Month! 💙

This month, we stand together to shine a light on the challenges children face in foster care and to celebrate the power of advocacy. At CASA of Johnson & Wyandotte Counties, our volunteers provide children with a safe, consistent voice, ensuring their needs are met and their stories are heard.

Throughout April, we’ll share ways you can help prevent abuse, support children, and strengthen families—because every child deserves a safe, loving home.
