When?
Wednesday, May 20th 6:00pm-7:30pm

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and we’re spending this month’s Community Connections having an honest conversation about what that means in our own backyard.

What we’ll cover:
• Who is and what they do
• Real success stories making an impact today
• How you can get involved in our community
• What’s next on the front lines of breaking the stigma

Bring a friend. Bring a question. Walk out with a community.

At Go Further Foundation, we believe showing up for one another matters, especially in the moments when it’s hardest.

Knowing how to respond in a mental health crisis isn’t something we’re always taught, but it’s something that can truly save a life.

That’s why we’re proud to partner with Johnson County Mental Health Center to sponsor FREE Adult Mental Health First Aid trainings throughout 2026.
This training is more than just a course — it’s a chance to feel more confident, prepared, and supported when someone around you needs help.

Big win for the community right here 👇

We’re excited to share that Johnson County Mental Health Center is partnering with the Go Further Foundation to offer FREE Mental Health First Aid training for 100 community members in 2026.

Mental health challenges often show up in everyday moments, with friends, family, coworkers, or neighbors. Mental Health First Aid gives you the tools to recognize the signs, respond with confidence, and connect someone to the help they need.

Think of it like CPR, but for mental health.

🧠 What you’ll learn:
• How to recognize signs of mental health and substance use challenges
• How to support someone in crisis
• How to connect people to professional help

📅 Four trainings available (April–November)
📍 First session: Saturday, April 18 at Netsmart in Overland Park
💲 Cost: FREE (thanks to Go Further Foundation covering the $50 fee)

Spots are limited, and we expect these to fill quickly.

👉 Register now: https://connect.jocogov.org/gff-adult-mhfa

Let’s build a community that knows how to show up for one another.

For Episode 2 of Voices That Go Further, we sat down with Kristen Kasselman — aka your local mental health hype woman 💁‍♀️

From the moment we connected, it was clear that Kristen’s story embodies what Go Further Foundation stands for. Life isn’t a straight line. It’s about taking risks, making mistakes, pivoting when needed, and having the courage to pivot again. Growth lives in the messy middle just as much as it does in the highlight reel.

Kristen reminded us that vulnerability is strength, and that rewriting your story is always an option.

Thank you, Kristen, for sharing your journey so openly with our community. Conversations like these are how we move the needle by breaking stigma, building connections, and reminding each other that we’re never navigating it alone.

At our second Community Connections event of the year, we’re diving into what it really takes to show up and perform in life’s toughest moments.

We’re honored to host Craig Mason Founder of Myndset, serial health tech innovator, proud dad, husband, and advocate. Craig has built solutions for some of the world’s largest healthcare providers, and he’s also built something even more powerful: businesses rooted in turning personal struggle into meaningful, upstream impact.

Six years ago, Go Further Foundation began with a simple vision: to remind people that nobody is on their journey alone.

From mental health trainings to community fundraisers, from Executive coaching events to community service days, you’ve helped us build something special. Together, we’ve created a space where connection, compassion, and community truly come alive.

Now, as we look toward 2026, our mission is growing — and we need your help to take the next step forward.

Here’s what your donation will support:

- Community Events: Regular gatherings connecting our GFF community with organizations making a difference.

- Service Opportunities: Giving back together through hands-on volunteer events.

- Mental Health Access: Money to train 100 people in mental health first aid and a grant program improving access to therapy resources.

Every dollar goes directly toward making Kansas City a more connected, compassionate, and mentally healthy community.

This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to continue Going Further with us.

Today is

This year's theme highlights the importance of mental health in a humanitarian crisis. During a natural disaster, conflict, or public health emergency many people in a community are impacted due to emotional distress.

All members of our communities need to come together and be informed about the resources that exist to help those facing crisis, or act as a reminder that nobody is on their journey alone.

Together, we can build a world where mental health support is accessible to all.

The Chiefs wouldn’t win games if Patrick Mahomes was the only one on the team. Every player has a role, and together, they create a winning game plan.

The same goes for mental health, we aren’t built to carry it alone. Having a community behind us matters.

We all need a team. And at Go Further Foundation, we’re here for you.

If you or someone you know is struggling with su***de, resources are available. Check out our list below and add some of your own in the comments, we're all in this together.
