Ouray County Players originated in 1991 under the name Ouray County Summer Theater with the production of the musical "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." Since that time OCP has produced many shows including: "Oliver!", "The Sound of Music", "All in the Timing", "The Enchanted", "Abducting Diana" and "Sylvia". In addition OCP presented staged readings of both "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
" and "Murder in the Cathedral". A highlight for OCP has been our live radio show productions of "A Christmas Carol", "It's a Wonderful Life", "Miracle on 34th Street", "The Bishop's Wife" and October delights- "Hound of the Baskervilles, "War of the Worlds" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Melodramas delight our summer audiences with the most recent shows being "The Villain Wore a Dirty Shirt" and "The Great Ice Cream Scheme." OCP and the Wright have hosted the Moving Target theater group from Kansas City in two separate years with the professional productions of "Art" and "God of Carnage." We look forward to more of their productions in the future! In 2002, OCP became a tax-exempt 501(c)(3_ organization. Our mission is to promote,produce and present for the enjoyment of the citizens of and visitors to Ouray County, all aspects of the performing arts, with a special emphasis on the dramatic arts. OCP is the sole partner theater group for the Wright Opera House.
