After the war Silverton's economy was suffering. It seemed all the community had to offer was scenery and a narrow-gauge train; just what Hollywood was looking for! The filming of Ticket to Tomahawk brought much need revenue into town and also national recognition as a beautiful place to visit. Five local girls played the children of Anne Baxter: Judy Lee Craig, Charlene Probst, Martha Ann Hager, Becky Lassiter and Karen Seddlemeyer. (these names are not in order, could someone help us with this?)

Don't forget this movie will be shown Wed., Sept 9th at the Silverton Powerhouse Collective, as part of Colorado and San Juan County's 150th Anniversary

Reminder: Closures Remain in Effect!
As conditions improve and firefighting operations continue to wind down, please remember that area closures remain in effect in portions of the and areas.

A reduction in fire activity or transition to a smaller incident management organization does not automatically mean closed areas are open.

Closures may remain necessary because of hazards including:
⚠️ Fire-weakened and falling trees
🔥 Areas of remaining heat
🪨 Rolling rocks, logs and unstable terrain
🌧️ Increased potential for erosion, flooding or debris flows
🚒 Ongoing firefighter and equipment operations

🚫 If a road, trail or area is posted closed, please respect the closure—even if you don't see active fire or firefighters nearby. These closures help protect both the public and personnel continuing to work within the fire areas.

Know before you go. Check current conditions and closure information before heading into the backcountry.
