Masons Marching
in the
Iowa State Fair Parade

Wednesday Aug. 7th, 2013, about 6 PM

The Des Moines Scottish Rite and the Des Moines York Rite invite all Masons to participate in the Iowa State Fair Parade on Aug 7th, 2013.
Volunteers are needed to march in the Iowa State Fair Parade. We hope to have 50 to 100 Masons marching in the parade.
The purpose of participating in this parade is to promote the Masonic lodges throughout Iowa.
If you wish to volunteer to march in the parade, you will need to be able to walk for about three miles. If you wish to participate, please go to dmyorkrite.org and sign up. We plan on providing water for the Masons attending. This will allow us to know how much water to bring.
Around Aug 1st, we will send an email to everyone who has signed up. We will provide details on where to meet and when. The parade will start about 6:00 PM. We will need to assemble a little earlier.
For Masons who do not get signed up, we will have details posted on dmyorkrite.org so that anyone can show up to participate.

Sir Knights,

We have been asked by MWBro. Bryce Hildreth, Grand Master of Masons, and SK Terry Hudik, REGC to assist in a cornerstone laying on June 29th at the new American Legion building at 910 Main Street in Van Meter. Please come in uniform, and be ready to do a little marching, and of course some swordplay. Plan to meet directly at the Legion Post at 9:45am for a short Commandery practice before the Grand Lodge Officers arrive, after which, we will have another practice with them.

The more Sir Knights that are present in uniform, the better the whole thing goes, and the better Masonry looks in general. I will have a signup form on the Des Moines York Rite site: dmyorkrite.org shortly.

Had a good meeting last night, James Cox from Iowa De Molay came down and talked to us about sponsoring a De Molay Chapter or reviving one in Ottumwa. Hope to see everyone out at our July meeting. Thank you James Cox for visiting us last night.

June 4, 2013 we will be having a guest speaker, James Cox. His topic will be starting a DeMolay Chapter in the area for Ottumwa and surrounding area. I encourage you to get the word out, and show up. I would Like for some discussion as to thoughts of sponsoring a DeMolay Chapter.......

We had a good time at the York Rite Festival in Des Moines yesterday with Thad Crane.
