Crystal James shared details of her mission trips to Haiti and Guatemala with Go Global Missions. She was able to serve elders, build homes, teach children, and learn a great deal about their cultures.
Crystal reminded us that we all have a mission whether its serving in another country or in our own backyard.

Today, club historian Bill Hansen, and senior member Rich Gaumer, shared the history of Kiwanis and the story of how Hy-Noon Kiwanis came to be. Bill reminded us the origins of our “Happy Bucks” that go toward helping kids facing needs in the community, but started as a means of providing milk money for students, and he brought a sample milk jar for us to reminisce about.
Fun fact- women were not permitted to join Kiwanis clubs of America until 1987!! Proud to say Hy-Noon Kiwanis 2026 has all female officers! My, how far we’ve come!

On April 22, Hy-Noon Kiwanis hosted the 2026 OHS Honors Banquet recognizing the achievement of students in the top 10% of their class in Academics, Band, Drama, Orchestra, Speech, Student Council, and Vocal Music.
We served student and their families a delicious buffet and presented each of them a commissioned memorial print of OHS.
Thanks to all who attended and those who coordinated this lovely event.
Special thanks to Community 1st Credit Union and South Ottumwa Savings Bank for your sponsorship.
