Spook A Rama was developed as a means for our 4-H Club to raise funds to support our club activities without competing with the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Bands or other youth groups. The ride is ridden at a walk and trot. There may be jumps along the course but you are not required to jump them. This is the perfect ride for groups with beginner riders, young family members or horses coming back fro
m a layup. Registration takes place in the large Pavilion beginning at 8:30 am. The first ride goes out at 9:00 am and the last ride at 1:00 pm. The cost of the ride is $25 per person with Lead line $10.00 and in 2016 we added a Costume Class for dogs held on the field opposite the Pavilion at Noon. The raffle is run by "Friends of Bucks County SPCA" and is drawn from Noon on. Please ride early, have lunch and take your ribbons home with you, and be sure to check the raffle table. The winner will be posted on each item. At registration each team (up to 4 riders) will choose their division, and receive an index card DO NOT LOOSE IT and clue list. The clue list will tell you which trail to use, and also contains riddles. As you solve the riddle, you will know what your scavenger item is. You will need saddle bags or fanny pack to carry the scavenger items in. Along the course there will be checkpoints manned by 4-H members and volunteers, they may have you answer spooky trivia questions or perform a task. Your index card will be marked with the points earned at each checkpoint. At the completion of your ride, a team member turns in all the items you scavenged and the index card with the points earned. Everyone's points will be tallied and entered in the the spreadsheet for each division. Ribbons to sixth place for each team member in all seven divisions plus gift certificates to those members in first place each division. Extra bonus points are awarded for donations to the Bucks County SPCA and also to those teams in costume. You do not have to ride in your costume if it is too elaborate or unsafe. Just present at the starting line to be judged, remove your unsafe portion and begin your ride. An abundance of food will be available for sale all day, and raffle tickets are sold by "Friends of the SPCA" to benefit our 4-H club's community service project Bucks County SPCA. Only one bonus per team for donations, costume bonus points are judged by a community volunteer. The ride is timed and the closest to the ideal time is used to break ties. The 7 divisions are Single Rider, Family, Friends, Costume, Juniors (under 18) and Jack Benny. Lead line is a shorter version of the ride using a portion of the same course. A child or disabled person with side walkers would be able to do the course. It will be approx. a mile long. We don't tell the length of the ride or the ideal time which is used to break ties. We hope you will join us for a Spooktacular good ride!
