Ohio Farmers Union

Ohio Farmers Union The Ohio Farmers Union pursues public policy that supports family farmers and consumers.

Ohio Farmers Union is an organization of farmers, rural community members and consumers who share a deep commitment to maintaining family farm agriculture. We believe that a network of family-based, moderately-scaled farms can most economically, socially and environmentally responsibly provide the food, fiber and energy our nation needs, while fostering healthy rural communities and a broad, diver

se national economy. Toward this goal, we focus our efforts in the three principle basic mission areas of: legislative, grassroots advocacy; adult and youth education, and rural community development.

Calling All Beginning Farmers!!

National Farmers Union Beginning Farmer Institute is accepting applications through July 19th. - Ready to hone your farm business management skills?

The institute includes participating in an online, 10-week intensive program intended to improve the health of your farm or ranch business. The program is open to producers ages 18 and up and is inclusive of all operation types and scales of production.

The program is a great way to get involved as a new member to farmers union and potential opportunities to attend National Convention and DC Fly-In '27. We believe strongly in the voice of new and beginning farmers and want to ensure their seat at the table.

NFU’s Beginning Farmer Institute is a free, 10-week online program that helps you build a solid foundation for your farm or ranch business.

The Ohio Farmers Union (OFU) announced leadership transitions this week designed to ensure continuity within the organization while reflecting the realities of modern farm and family life.

Joe Logan has stepped into the role of President Pro Tem following the transition of Bryn Bird, who will move from President to Vice President of Internal Affairs as she supports her family abroad in Japan during her husband’s overseas assignment.

“This is about building an organization that reflects real life,” said Bryn Bird. “Farmers don’t have the luxury of stepping away from their operations to lead - and they shouldn’t have to. We’re creating a structure where leadership can happen from the field, between harvest or market days, and wherever farmers are, with shared purpose.”

Highlighting Ohio Farmers Union member Maria of Iduhon Farms, featured at Cleveland’s first Filipino Mini Market. What a powerful example of community—bringing people together to support small businesses while celebrating and learning about Filipino culture.

Hosted at Brewnuts, the event drew hundreds and spotlighted Filipino-owned businesses, creating space for visibility, pride, and connection.

A reminder that when we show up for each other, we grow something bigger than business—we grow community.

Maria Hettel is the co-founder of Iduhon farms, which is one of five vendors participating in the Filipino Mini Market in Cleveland this weekend.
