Service Above Self in action! 💙💛

Last week, several Ottawa Rotarians rolled up their sleeves and worked on the downtown corner flower beds, helping our beautiful downtown look its best for some of Ottawa’s biggest upcoming weekends.

With Ol’ Marais River Run happening this weekend, downtown Ottawa is ready to welcome visitors and looking picture-perfect for all those classic-car photos!

The Ottawa Rotary Club is proud to recognize Keith King as a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award, one of Rotary’s highest honors. While Keith has not been a member of Rotary, he has consistently demonstrated the spirit of “Service Above Self” through his years of support for our club and its fundraising efforts. His generosity, encouragement, and willingness to help have made a meaningful difference in our ability to serve the Ottawa community.

Keith’s contributions extend far beyond a single event or fundraiser. His continued support of Ottawa Rotary reflects a genuine commitment to making our community a better place. We are grateful for the many ways Keith has supported our club over the years and are honored to recognize him with this well-deserved Paul Harris Fellow. Congratulations, Keith, and thank you for all you have done for Ottawa Rotary and our community!

What happens when you mix Rotary, good conversation, and a few book recommendations?

We had a great time at our Rotary Social at Hops on Main! Members shared some of their favorite reads, and On the Road by Jack Kerouac was the winner of our drawing.

Stay tuned, we may be geeking out over a few good books at an upcoming Rotary meeting!

Help us welcome our newest Ottawa Rotary Club member, Thatcher Moddie!

Thatcher recently joined our community as the Ottawa City Manager, and we’re excited that he has also chosen to become part of Ottawa Rotary! We’re looking forward to having Thatcher’s perspective, leadership, and energy as part of our club.

This week’s Ottawa Rotary Club meeting gave us a great opportunity to learn more about the incredible work happening right here in our community.

A big thank you to Craig Evans and Wayne Baylor from COF (Coffey, Osage & Franklin Counties) for sharing how their organization supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We learned about the meaningful employment opportunities they help create and the many ways they empower individuals to live fulfilling, independent lives.

We were excited to grow the Ottawa Rotary Club family this week by welcoming two new members!

Please join us in welcoming Nancy Johnson and Dr. Brian Jones to Rotary. We’re thrilled to have them join our club and know their talents, leadership, and passion for serving others will make a positive impact on both our club and our community.

Welcome to Rotary, Nancy and Dr. Jones! We’re glad you’re here and look forward to serving alongside you.

A huge thank you to Abby for her inspiring presentation to the Ottawa Rotary Club yesterday!

One of the biggest takeaways for our members:
"Don't build your success on a bunch of Hail Marys."

The reaction around the room said it all. More than one member simply said, "WOW!"

Thank you, Abby, for challenging us to think differently and for sharing your time, experience, and encouragement with our club!
