Every childhood cancer warrior’s journey looks different. What matters most is how we stand by them.

Watching the news interview with Charlie, this year’s recipient, completely broke my heart. She is an absolute fighter, determined to make the very best of her journey.

I cannot begin to imagine hearing the words "you have terminal cancer" at just 16 years old. We need your help.

When a family member is diagnosed with cancer, it doesn't just affect one person—it ripples through the lives of everyone who loves them. 🎗️❤️

Charlie’s brother sent me an incredibly moving email recently that truly captures the weight of this journey and the strength of their bond. I felt it was so important to share a piece of it with all of you today:

💌Charlie is my sister. She is the daughter of Kira and Tim Hyser.

Charlie grew up in Minnesota, the same one you know well. Summers thick with humidity and mosquitoes, winters so sharp that being indoors brings you closer to the people around you. It’s home.

Charlie is normal. She stays up too late on school nights talking with her friends, and she’s exceptionally good at getting under the skin of the adults in her life.

Charlie is loved. At school, she spends extra time helping kids with disabilities, doing her best to make sure they feel included. She’s a leader among her friends, not because she tries to be. It’s who she is.

Charlie is my captain.

She has shown me what perseverance actually looks like. Not the polished version you see in movies or read in books but the real thing. The kind those stories are based on.

When faced with a haunting diagnosis, Charlie asked the questions no one wants to hear:

Will I lose my hair? Is it genetic? Will Mom or Dad have it too?
And then she asked for Physical Therapy.

Because she understood something a lot of folks don’t, that her fight would be shaped by what she chose to do next.

She was diagnosed with Diffuse Midline Glioma, a rare and aggressive disease.

Charlie is something stronger.

She has chosen to define herself, rather than be defined by her circumstances.

To everyone reading this, to everyone willing to support, show up, or play in this tournament, thank you. You have joined the fight, and there is room for all of us.

Charlie is our hero.

Look closely do you see the gold ribbon?! 🎗️

We were doing yard work Saturday and I heard Caleb “look mom, Brave Like Cloe!!” Then he ran upstairs to give it to her!

We all thought it was a pretty cool symbol, a reminder of her journey and all of those faced with childhood cancer.

Our 2021 Warrior Breckon and his family could use lots and lots of love and support right now!

April 2025 Breckon had his Oncology appointment where he was 2.5 years off treatment, this moved him to 6 month clinic checks and over to the survivorship team.

A few weeks later Breckon went to his regular clinic due to occasional chest pain & fatigue where they found pneumonia & a mild pleural effusion. The family decided to check-in with oncology...because that's what we do to ease nervous. After a visit & labs with his oncology team they got the horrible news that Breckon had relapsed.

They have had an up and down journey since and are currently in Philadelphia as Breckon begins the clinical trial he was accepted into. (huCART Trail) As of now, they will be there until the end of March while his siblings are at home with family and friends helping keep their routine as normal as possible.

Your generosity throughout 2025 provided a lifeline for children and families navigating their hardest days.

25% of this year's proceeds were designated to Childhood Cancer Research and for Cloe to provide supplies, activities & toys for families and children inpatient. We chose to donate these proceeds to the Children's Minnesota Shine Bright for Kids Fundraiser.

🌟The Shine Bright for Kids fundraiser helps deliver extraordinary care to children living with cancer and blood disorders, best medicine and latest treatments. It also helps provide access to music therapy, child life experts, pet therapy and so much more.
