🚨 ATTENTION FARMERS & AREA RESIDENTS 🚨

Multiple field and grass fires are currently impacting Woodbury County and surrounding areas, putting a significant strain on our local volunteer fire departments.

🔥 We understand the urgency of getting crops out of the field, but your safety and the safety of our first responders must come first.

🚜 Please have a tractor and disk readily available. These are invaluable resources when fighting field fires and can make a tremendous difference in preventing a fire from spreading.

Our volunteer firefighters are working hard to protect our communities, homes, equipment, and farmland. We ask for your patience and cooperation during this time.

Please share this message with fellow farmers, neighbors, and community members.

Stay safe, stay alert, and help us keep our communities protected.

The 6th Annual Oto Fire Department Side x Side Poker Run is coming up on Saturday, August 15, 2026! 🛻♠️♥️

Grab your side-by-side, Jeep, pickup, motorcycle, or whatever you ride—all vehicles are welcome! Bring your friends and enjoy a day of great rides, local stops, good food, and supporting your local volunteer fire department.

📍 Registration: 9:00–11:00 AM
📍 Ride Begins: 11:00 AM
📍 Starting Location: Oto Fire Station
🍔 Meal: Oto Pub & Grub (Free Will Donation)

💵 Cost:
• Driver Punch Card (1 Poker Hand): $30
• Additional Poker Hands: $20 each
• Passengers not participating ride FREE

Today, the Oto Fire Department mourns the loss of our brother, Zachariah Todd Putzier.

For 13 years, Zach proudly served the Oto community and the Oto Fire Department. He took great pride in making sure our trucks were always ready to answer the call, and he loved representing the department at parades, community events, and gatherings.

More than anything, Zach cared about the people around him. He was always checking in on fellow members, offering a helping hand, and making sure everyone was doing okay. His dedication, friendship, and commitment to this department will never be forgotten.

Please keep Zach's family, friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for your 13 years of service, your friendship, and the impact you made on our department and community.

Rest easy brother, we have the watch from here.❤️

🚨 WOODBURY COUNTY BURN BAN – EFFECTIVE TODAY 🚨

A burn ban has been issued for several fire districts in Woodbury County, effective TODAY at 1:00 PM CST due to increased fire danger.

🚫 NO OPEN BURNING is allowed in the following districts:
Anthon, Correctionville, Cushing, Danbury, Moville, Oto, Pierson, Salix, Sergeant Bluff, and Sloan.

This includes burn barrels, brush piles, and recreational fires. Conditions are extremely dry and fires can spread fast.

🚜 FARMERS: If you’re able, please keep equipment hooked up and ready (disk/field cultivator/water tank, etc.) in case we need quick help stopping a field or grass fire. Do not self-dispatch—please wait for a request from Fire/Dispatch so we can keep everyone safe and coordinated.
