On Earth Day, we at Project Buena Vista are reflecting on that important piece of rainforest in Peru that we have been conserving since 2000. For 25 years we have acted as the keepers of 100 acres of critical, recovering rainforest located at the corridor to the massive Manu Biosphere. During that time we have seen an increase in wildlife (the previous owner had hunted). We have seen the trees grow and planted some too. All of this has been made possible through your generous support that is so vital to our common cause.
What you may not realize is that these efforts have been largely executed by one person—the same person for the last quarter century. Felipe Gomez. Felipe truly is a protector of the rainforest. He has worked tirelessly at Buena Vista this entire time. He has worked as a guardian and an advocate for this chunk of rainforest. This monumental task has been fraught with challenges. Some of these challenges
center around simply living an isolated piece of rainforest to which access is limited. But the rainforest itself is a challenge, with its bouts of severe rain and sometimes dangerous floods that result in unpredictable changes in the course of the river. Our most recent challenge is severe flooding during this wet season. Just last week these floods resulted in significant erosion at the property and the destruction of the basic infrastructure of our water system which now needs replacement. So on this occasion, Earth Day 2025, we are asking for your continued support in the form of donations to Project Buena Vista. Any support will go directly to Felipe for his continued stewardship
of the property and the basic supplies that are needed for us to maintain our operations. Thank you!
