in September was a huge success! (yes, we are that far behind).

We picked the South Jetty in Venice, Fl. - a high traffic area that wasn't being cleaned up by any other organizations for this international event! We've cleaned this park/beach before, as it was a popular viewing area for the Venetian Cup Youth Sailing Regatta in April. We're happy to report that we found LESS trash this time, but the numbers are still saddening being that it was cleaned by our volunteers just 4 months before.

For this effort, we had 19 volunteers - including some girl scouts and cub scouts! In just 2 hours we collected a total of 570 pieces of trash from the beach, jetty, and park for a total weight of just over 33 pounds😥.

Stay tuned this week to see some interviews with our volunteers and some BIG EXCITING NEWS that we can't share with you just yet!

Happy Halloween from our family to yours!

Can you guess who carved each of our Jack-O-Lanterns? Eric was cooking dinner, but Yvonne, Zoe, Emma, and Lucas each carved one!

Let us know your guesses in the comments!

We've been busy!

This is the home we'll be selling to purchase the boat that will take us around the world!

We trimmed all the oaks back from the house (just in time for tropical storm Elsa!)

Pressure washed and painted the ends of the house (2nd story) and the chimney!

We'll post more pictures as we make more progress!

What do you think of the new color? We love it!

Yesterday was a bittersweet day for us.

We sold our beloved boat that we've owned for 17 years.

This was the first home Yvonne and I had together (up till this point we had been living on the tall ships we worked on).

This was also Zoe's first home. The home she turned one on while anchored in Cape Canaveral with a view of the Space Shuttle launch pads.

This was the home we travelled up the east coast on - trying to get to our wedding in Virginia! As luck would have it, the weather didn't cooperate and we had to leave the boat in Charleston so we could get to our wedding on time!

This was the home we left our wedding rings on when we drove to Virginia for our wedding (also the home I drove back to, to get the rings before the wedding!)

This was the home we came home to as a married couple - to find that the Schooner Liberty Clipper had visited the same marina while we were away for our wedding. The crew hung a large table cloth full of well wishes for us from the mast and shrouds, there was a bottle if rum left in the cockpit for us too!

This is the home that Zoe dipped for blue crabs for off the dock in her Easter dress.

This is the home that allowed us to live a dream. To explore. And to grow as a family.

While we've long outgrown this boat as a liveaboard for our family, she will forever have a special place in our hearts.

Her sale marks a major milestone in our new journey of purchasing a larger boat that can take us around the world and support our mission!

Follow our journey as a family as we make moves to sail the world and raise awareness of ocean pollution.
