Goals:

*The FACE organization is a resource to benefit the residents of the Mahaska County community.

*That our position in the community is both an opportunity and a responsibility to provide arts related leadership.

*That our policies, programs and practices should enable and encourage growth, dignity, inclusiveness, fairness and equality for people in the Mahaska County community.

*To work

as a catalyst in the arts community by helping to find solutions to community initiatives that require assistance.

*To encourage and nurture innovation and manage the risks inherent in creating art.

*We must encourage people with various backgrounds to participate in the arts.

*In allowing the elected Board to make informed decisions in accordance with set policies and available information in an ongoing and open evaluation of all policies, programs and initiatives.

Snowbird by Tim Adams is a whimsical representation. “The snowbird,” like our feathered friends, migrates from the cold northern winter temperatures to warm southern temperatures.

It is located along A Ave West at the Rotary Gazebo at the trailhead. It is sponsored by Iowa Economic Development Authority and National Endowment for the Arts.

Totem II, by Bill McGrath, is a monolithic piece with a rusted surface and simplistic cut outs, similar to cave drawings. It relates to the historic use of these types of structures to tell time, by it’s internal lights coming on at dusk. Strengthening its impact is its 110 inch height and clean lines.
