UW Oshkosh student Vet Corps members will be placed in a variety of local nonprofit organizations where they will support non-profits’ missions while also acting as key resources for veterans and military families. Members placed at schools and nonprofit agencies will gain valuable experience by helping local organizations fulfill their missions while recruiting and supporting volunteers and actin
g as a key resource for other veterans and military families. Service activities may include tutoring, mentoring, building houses, helping those with disabilities, gardening, supporting local veteran programs, and much more. Benefits to Members
Members will receive a meaningful experience that will help their well-being and purpose as they transition into civilian life. Training will be provided to assist them in their service as well as to provide them additional skills to take with them after their service is complete. Members will also receive a living allowance of $2,000 and education award of $1,468. Specific information on the education award can be found at www.edaward.org. Members may also qualify to receive 3 internship credits. Qualifications for 2013-14 Program Year
- US citizen, national, or permanent resident alien
- Minimum age of 17
- Current student at UW Oshkosh
- Veteran or immediate family member of a veteran
