A Friend of mine posted this on their page and I thought it was so relevant to us. We all know these feelings.

My favorite quote from my family doctor was, “it can’t really be that bad if you are still working and doing everything you do. “ I told him I didn’t know I had a choice. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Years in pain, tired and the many changes in me for no reason or apparent reason ... Hiding everything from someone else, pretending to be doing better than you are; until it no longer works. No matter how strong you want to be.
Then the moment comes when they tell you what you have ... You have mixed feelings: you finally know what you have, but how do you deal with it?
Lack of encouragement, wanting to lie down, taking medication frequently; having a whole pharmacy on top of the nightstand.
Then, the daily responses, "Why did you get so fat?" “I have this great diet, if you just go out and exercised.
That once beautiful hair of yours now awful and it falls out.
What happened to you??....
This is all true and that's why I'm sharing it!
Silent and invisible diseases do exist ...
When you have an invisible disease it is difficult to argue from your perspective with ignorant people.
Life takes a lot of turns !!!
Tired of being told:
* Did you go to the doctor?
* Have you tried this?
* Have you tried that?
* I don’t know what else we can do for you...
Yes! I tried and still try everything !!!
Doctors say this disease is forever. That I will not heal. However, I am not giving up, but I want to make others realize:
* A nap will not cure me but it will help me ...
* I am not lazy, I take medication and it sometimes makes me sleepy.
* I am not angry but sometimes cranky with pain.
* I struggle daily with pain, mobility problems, fatigue, the criticism of my environment.
Most frustratingly, people look at me and say, "It can't be that bad; you look good "
Despite the fact that my body is experiencing excruciating pain everywhere, of course I look good, I always try to look good, it is an "invisible" disease.
This disease affects me physically, mentally and emotionally. Because rare autoimmune diseases cannot be seen, but we feel them.
And they are there ... Silent attack but extra painful.
I am looking at those who take the time to read this post to the end.

Happy Thanksgiving week to all. During this trying time, we need to make a special effort to give thanks. I know that I am looking at all the wonders of this life that are gifts. I know I look forward to the smell of a turkey in the oven. :-) And also am so thankful for all of you that I met through this "Circle of Hope." We are blessed.

In the past couple decades, the scientific community has become increasingly aware of the determining role that lifestyle factors –especially diet– play in human health and longevity.

09/25/2020

This is a post from Dr. Terry Wahl's webpage.

When it comes to supporting immune function, most individuals turn to the big players – vitamin C, vitamin D, and certain plant extracts, such as echinacea, mushrooms, and olive leaf.

Zinc is an essential mineral, meaning we need it, but, since our bodies can’t make it, it must be acquired in the diet or from supplementation. Zinc is the second-most abundant trace mineral found in the body, second only to iron. It is present in almost every living cell, it’s responsible for at least 100 enzymatic reactions, and it plays a key role in genetic expression, cell division, and growth.

Although our bodies typically contain 2-3 grams of zinc at any one time – mostly in bones and muscles – a regular supply is necessary to keep the body (and those 100+ enzymatic reactions) running smoothly. The best way to do that is through a healthy diet and zinc supplementation.

The best sources of zinc through diet include:

Red meat
Poultry
Oysters
Beans and nuts, albeit in lesser amounts than meat, poultry, and oysters

If interested in supplements, you can visit Dr. Wahl's website for further information.

Here's an excerpt from an email I got from the Terry Wahls website. She does go on to promote a product. I did not include that here as we are not about selling on this site. So if you want more info you will need to research for yourself. I thought the basic info about Tumeric was helpful and will look into more about it. But here's a start:

Written by Dr. Terry Wahls,

Turmeric and its compounds have been shown to provide healthy inflammatory support and actually help regulate the inflammatory response!

Researchers believe it’s due to these abilities of turmeric that it can:

Help maintain proper joint health and flexibility
One study in 18 patients with joint discomfort found improvements in morning stiffness, walking time, and joint swelling after just 2 weeks of supplementing with a compound in turmeric!
Improve mood and reduce brain fog
A trial in 60 healthy older adults found those who took a compound within turmeric for 1 month saw a significant reduction in brain fog, and had a higher level of calmness and well-being following a cognitive test.
Reduce discomfort, tenderness, and swelling
A placebo-controlled trial in 40 men who had hernia surgery took a compound of turmeric for just 5 days and found it was effective in reducing swelling, tenderness, and discomfort.
And these are just the benefits of turmeric associated with its ability to support a healthy inflammatory response!

It has also shown to:

Support healthy antioxidant activity in the body for a strong, supported immune system
Support a healthy heart
Prevent damage from oxidative stress and potentially aid in longevity
There are so many benefits of Turmeric, I could go on and on…

And because it’s natural, you don’t have to worry about the long list of side effects you get with a lot of the drugs prescribed for autoimmune conditions!

But there’s a catch...

There are 2 major problems with Turmeric you need to know about.

Turmeric is notorious for not being bioavailable - meaning your body has a hard time absorbing it
Most turmeric products are actually just one active ingredient of turmeric - curcumin. With these products you’re missing out on the nearly 300 other beneficial components of whole food turmeric.
But that doesn’t mean you should give up on it all together!

Researchers have found that black pepper and coconut oil or significantly increase the bioavailability of Turmeric.

Meaning if you want to harness the power of Turmeric, you need to take it in whole food form, along with coconut oil and black pepper.

This is where Dr. Wahls goes on to recommend a capsule. If you are interested, you will need top research for yourself. I do not want to use this venue to sell products, but for information only.

Hi All,
Just saw a great reminder for a healthy mind. Three ways to work at a healthy brain:

1. Build strong connections
In other words we need our friends and family. Stay involved with them.

2. Learn something new
And we sure have time to do that now. Try small, like learning to make a new recipe, sew a seam, fix something broken.

3. Get good nutrition
Keep eating those fruits and veggies!
