As most of you know, the A-T Telethon has been happening for 11 years to raise money to find a cure for Ataxia-Telangectasia, which is a rare genetic disease that attacks children, causing progressive loss of muscle control, immune system problems, and a high rate of cancer. A-T affects a large variety of systems in the body, causing symptoms that affect health and daily living. This year, due to matters out of our control, the telethon was unable to happen.
However, there is a way we can still help. On Saturday, May 3rd, there is a 5k walk/run for a cure in Whitewater, WI at 8am. Registration is still open and if we can get a team together, we can show our support for these families coping with this awful disease. Registration is $25.
If we carpool down, we will be able to make it back probably by 12:00pm. It starts at 8am, so we would have to leave Oshkosh by 6:00am to make it there in time. But this is a great cause and would mean a lot to the families who have been involved in the telethon in past years.
If you are interested in joining a team for this walk/run, please contact Sarah Gorski at [email protected] to let her know!
