Looking back on an amazing year, and forward to even more. I know this page has been quiet, I'm sure the algorithm has completely forgotten this Foundation. (how do you say sorry in binary?) But, I assure you we're open! I have scaled back major efforts to focus on family, and some major changes in our life, but I have still remained focused on the mission. I have spoken with many people in the disabled and veteran communities and given an ear, sometimes advice, and sometimes a kick in the rear by way of motivation. So.... In case you were wondering.... I'm proud of all of you.
Always forward. Always on the move. Feed that momentum my friends.

Starting over is tough, and many times scary. Just know that you're not alone, and that failure is part of the process. Make incremental changes and steps, and use any failure as a launch pad for growth!
Always forward. Always on the move. Feed that momentum my friends!

Whew... Lots of driving today, but well worth it! I was able to deliver a custom Ki Mobility Tsunami rigid frame wheelchair, with nobby tires and wide front casters for traction and traversal of soft terrain, to our great friend Therese! Living in rural Wisconsin can make being adaptive slightly more challenging, and this chair will help her stay on the move much easier, inside and outside the house!
This is part of the mission, folks! Some things we provide are intangible, like covering travel costs, room and board, and entrance fees to adaptive events across the nation for people in the disabled and Veteran community... And some things are tangible, like this chair and other adaptive equipment that people may need for many aspects of life!
If you would like to learn more about our mission, follow the links on our page, or feel free to reach out directly! And as always, we can always use donations to further the mission of bringing adaptive training and adaptive opportunities to people in the disabled community and the veteran community. There are direct donation links on the website, as well as on this post! There is always a need! Every penny helps!

This. This is a prime example of the feeling I get within the disabled community. I get completely stoked for all of my brothers and sisters! From small "that's cool" victories, to the big "HOLY CRAP" victories, I cheer them all on with the utmost intensity!
This image captures my passion pretty accurately. I will always be there to lift people up, even if I can't stand myself.
This image was taken at a running clinic in San Antonio. I ran over from my group to cheer on my friend as he finished his run through the obstacle course. I cheered everyone on so intensely that I almost completely lost my voice for a few days.
This. Is. My. Soul.
Always forward. Always on the move. Feed that momentum my friends!

Took the show on the road today, and had the opportunity to present some of our foundations programs to the amazing team, and family at Tillges Certified Orthotic Prosthetic Inc, and discuss making a difference in the community! I can't thank the team enough for lending me an ear, as always it was an honor spending time with such an amazing company that has impacted so many lives, mine included!

Today is my ten year ampuversary! Ten years. Wow. Where has the time gone? I still say that this was both the worst thing, and the best thing to ever happen to me. Yes, being disabled is difficult. Yes I deal with daily levels of pain that would send "pre accident" me to my knees. Yes, I've suffered. But through suffering I've found beauty in this world, strength in myself, love for my people, compassion for others, empathy, and even joy!
I've found my purpose through this ordeal. I've gone broken through fire, and have been reforged. It's not easy, but nothing worth doing right should be easy.
I don't know who needs to hear this today, but it's OK. It's going to be OK. It's OK not to be OK. It's OK to struggle, to ask for help, to cry, to scream.... As long as you keep moving forward. Whether you're crutching, rolling, crawling, or walking... Keep that momentum. Reach out. Talk to people. Lift them up. Fill your cup. Fill the cup of others. Love unconditionally. Drink water. Call your mother.

I had the opportunity to hike a little at the Garden Of The Gods National Park in Colorado Springs recently. As far as accessibility, this park is top notch! Many times the truly accessible portions of parks are very minimal, and don't offer much in the way of good views. Garden Of The Gods definitely delivers a breathtaking view of natural beauty in the form of rock formations, and the condition and pitch of the inclines is very nice! Powered and manual wheelchair users, as well as most limited mobility people will be very pleased at the truly accessible level of this park!

Monday. Memorial day. I'm rucking 22 miles in Oshkosh, doing laps of the Menominee shoreline trail. I'm doing this to honor fallen Brothers and Sisters. I'm doing this for them. For those who can no longer carry the load. I'm putting out a fundraiser link, for the Adapt To Life Foundation. Funds from this fundraiser will directly impact Veterans in the local community. There is an immediate need for adaptive equipment, for funds to cover travel and training fees for adaptive events, and for support throughout the community.
I'm inviting anyone who would like to honor those who have given all, to come with me. Walk with me. Walk to remember. Raising money for the foundation is great, and important, but much more important is to remember and honor those who have paid for our freedom with their lives, on foreign soil, and to the battle at home. If you can only do parts of the walk, that's fine too. I know that this is going to be a difficult test. Thank you, and I'll see you on the trail.
