🇺🇸 Happy Memorial Day from the Osgood Lions Club 🇺🇸
On Monday, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice and dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.
As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day weekend, let us also take a moment to reflect with gratitude for those who made the ultimate sacrifice and all who serve past and present.

Wishing everyone a safe, meaningful, and blessed Memorial Day. ❤️🤍💙

Someone asked me recently, “What does Lions Clubs International actually do?”

Let me tell you why it’s such an incredible organization and such an important part of our community.

Founded on the simple motto, “We Serve,” Lions Clubs International is one of the world’s largest volunteer service organizations. Local Lions Clubs are made up of everyday people who come together to make a real difference — both locally and around the world.

Some of the many ways Lions serve include:

Organizing vision screenings and collecting used eyeglasses
Supporting food pantries and meal programs
Providing disaster relief to families in need
Hosting diabetes awareness and health education programs
Supporting youth leadership programs and scholarships
Assisting children and families facing childhood cancer
Organizing environmental cleanups and tree-planting projects
Funding humanitarian projects that help vulnerable populations

One of the most recognized missions of the Lions is helping those with vision needs. From free eye exams and surgeries to distributing recycled eyeglasses, sight-related service has long been a cornerstone of the organization.

But what makes Lions Clubs truly special is that every local club serves the unique needs of its own community. Whether it’s helping a neighbor after a fire, supporting local students, feeding families, or organizing community events, Lions are always looking for ways to help others.

Being a Lion is also about friendship, leadership, networking, and community connection. It’s an opportunity to serve alongside people who genuinely care about making a positive impact.

If you’ve ever wanted to get more involved in your community, now is a great time to learn more about the Lions. You can contact us through Facebook, reach out to one of our members, or find a local club or learn more about the organization through the official Lions Clubs International website.

The Osgood Lions Club is proud to donate to the Ripley County Queen Scholarship Fund! đź‘‘

At this week's meeting, Miss Ripley County 4-H Fair Queen, Onika Struewing, joined us and shared highlights from her year serving as Queen. She spoke about her experiences throughout the past year, her new job following graduation from Ball State University, and the appreciation she has gained for volunteering and community service. She also shared that she is considering joining a Lions Club in the future!

We are honored to support the outstanding young women participating in this year’s contest and to invest in their future through scholarship opportunities. Thank you for representing our community with pride, leadership, and service!

We’re proud to sponsor a local child’s registration to Camp Abilities, which will be held this summer at Xavier University. Camp Abilities is an adaptive sports camp designed for children who are blind or visually impaired, providing opportunities to build confidence, independence, and athletic skills in a supportive environment.

Pictured are Mindy Koehne, who spoke on behalf of Clovernook Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and Lion Tammie Schuck.
