Tonight is the night, Hayward! 🍿

Join us for a showing of the Public Lands Film Festival, this Saturday, October 17th, 6:00 - 8:30 PM at The Park Center. Films start at 6:30. America’s public lands are more than forests, rivers, and mountains—they are places where people find peace, adventure, inspiration, and a connection to something larger than themselves.

Located just steps from the Park Center, the Lumber Exchange is the perfect community gathering spot before our night of films.

Watch our park film, build a Pollinator Pal, learn how to fish, and explore the interpretive displays. Before you leave, swear in as a Junior Ranger to promise to protect and explore the Riverway!

Calling all who love our public lands. We are excited to announce TWO showings of the Public Lands Film Festival!

America’s public lands are more than forests, rivers, and mountains—they are places where people find peace, adventure, inspiration, and a connection to something larger than themselves. Through a curated collection of short films from independent filmmakers, the Public Lands Film Festival celebrates the breathtaking beauty, rich diversity, and enduring importance of these special places. Each film was chosen for its ability to inform, inspire, and remind audiences that when people come together around the places they love, extraordinary things happen.

🎥 Doors at 6 PM, Films 6:30 to 8:30 PM
🪵🔃 Join us for a pre-event social hour from 5-6 PM at the newly opened The Lumber Exchange. The Lumber Exchange is the perfect gathering space to share stories of our outdoor adventures this summer, before taking the walk across the street to the Park Center to enjoy the night of film.

Calling all Wisconsin landowners in Burnett, Washburn, Polk, St. Croix, or Barron counties

Join St. Croix - Red Cedar CWMA for one of five workshops to learn how to give stubborn buckthorn the kick on your land.

Each workshop will include information on buckthorn and woody invasive species identification, including honeysuckle, Japanese barberry, autumn olive, and Siberian peashrub. The workshops will also cover treatment techniques, primarily focusing on herbicide treatment.

🌟🪵 The first 16 landowners to sign up for each workshop will receive a free treatment starter kit, which comes with herbicide and bark oil blue.

Since 1989, the St. Croix Research Rendezvous brings together scientists, resource managers, and interested citizens to share and learn about research conducted in the St. Croix River Watershed. Presentation topics span numerous subjects, including water quality, ecology, resource management, and climate resiliency.

This crew of 50 fantastic volunteers came together to dedicate their Saturday to the Namekagon River.

We were delighted to see both familiar faces and new ones. Collectively they gave 350+ hours of service to clean up your national park, and removed a great haul of trash and debris.

Thank you again for your Namekagon Cleanup Support!

Thank you to the National Park Service and Hayward Fly Fishing Co. for working alongside the Conservancy to organize another successful clean-up this year. Our event supporters helped us start the day strong with delicious coffee provided by Backroads Coffee and Midwest Roasters, and made the after party a hit thanks to generous raffle prizes from Fishpond, Orvis, and Namekagon General Store; great food from Miller's Market sponsored by Namekagon General Store; refreshing drinks and a great venue from the Angry Minnow; and wonderful live music from Sonofmel, sponsored by Patagonia. We'd also like to thank Camp Namekagon and Log Cabin Resort & Campground for their support with shuttle services. Additionally, we'd like to thank the Hayward Chamber of Commerce for allowing us to kick off the event at Hayward Lake Boat Launch, and use the green space for parking.

The humidity is gone, and now is the perfect time to lace up those hiking boots or shoes and join us for our next Wild Wanderers Hiking Club outing!

This Saturday, September 19th, we will hiking the Stagecoach Prairie at Belwin Conservancy. Featuring gently rolling hills dominated by native tallgrass prairie, this 280-acre area contains 5 miles of family-friendly trails of easy to moderate difficulty.

Belwin Conservancy protects 1,600 acres of land in the St. Croix River Valley and offer amazing trails for use by the public to experience the region.
