Yesterday (Saturday, May 30th 2026) the West Missouri District of Optimist International held their annual qualifying tournament for the International Junior Golf Championship that will be held in July at the Dorel National Country Club in Miami Florida. The tournament is open to boys and girls ages 10 - 18. There are four age groups for the boys and three for the girls. The qualifying tournament was held at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar. Thanks to Bryan Dianels, the Club Manager and head professional for helping us put this great tournament together and to the Osceola Optimist Club for providing free food prepared by Curtis Colby. There were 33 participants that competed. In each age group there is a qualifying score that must be met in order to advance on to the Championship. The day started out with rain but it stopped just before the first tee off time of 11 AM and the tournament proceeded without delay. Most of the day was great weather with sun and light wind, however storms looked like they were moving in late afternoon and we were worried that we would not finish. Luckly, the storms held off and all groups were able to finish. The results are: Boys age 16-18 - 1st Harper Hough 72, 2nd Jake Gorden 75 and Sam Wynn 78. (all are eligible to advance on)
Girls age 15-18 - 1st Addie Swan 72, 2nd Josey Roberts 76 and 3rd Rylee Allred 77. (all are eligible to advance on).
Boys age 14-15 - 1st Aiden Schmidt 77, 2nd Ryker Kutina 82 and 3rd Jaxon Roe 84. (Aiden and Ryker are eligible to advance on).
Girls age 13-14 - 1st Adalyn Wilson 83 and 2nd Khloe Kramer 125. (Adalyn advances on)
Boys age 12-13 - 1st Paxton Heitz 87, 2nd Greyson Stephens 95. (Paxton advances on)
Congratulations to all that participated and good luck to those that advance on and participate in the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship!!
