The Border War BBQ is a KCBS sanctioned BBQ event held the fourth Saturday of October in John Brown Park, Osawatomie, Kansas. All profits from the Border War BBQ and associated raffles go to the John Brown Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) corporation working to educate the public about John Brown's abolitionist crusade that changed American history. as, the headquarters of John Brown during his abolitionist in the Kansas Territory from 1855 to 1856. Currently, the John Brown Foundation is working to restore the Charles Adair Home, which sits next to the original site of the Adair Cabin (John Brown’s operational headquarters), as a historical site for the study of history and preservation of artifacts from the “Bleeding Kansas” era in the region.
